Moire Advice

I've mainly used my Gh4 with canon prime lenses attached to a speed booster. For vacation, I used the 12-35 panasonic f2.8 zoom and noticed a ton of moire noise on thin lines or shots with a lot of horizontal detail. I've never noticed it with the canon lenses. How do I prevent this? Do I lower the sharpness setting? What about noise reduction? Does lens stabilization add to this problem?

To try and reduce it in post, in premiere, under field options, I choose flicker removal. It seems to be helping a little. Anything else I should try?

I have the latest firmware for the camera body. Do lenses ever require firmware?

I shot in Cine D default settings.

Were you watching the footage on a true 4k monitor or was it scaled to UHD?

Scaling from 4K to UHD is such a small step that it will negatively influence the picture quality.

I never see moire in 4k. Blow the image up to 100 percent and play it (on a 1080p monitor you'll only see part of the image), and see if the moire is still there.

You guys were right. It was not the camera. It was the AJA IO4K card converting it from 4k to 1080 24p. At 4k, it looks good. Thanks!

If you need to downscale from 4K to 1080p and keep your footage moire-free, the free GoPro Cineform CODEC does a great job.

I usually output a 4K youtube file or a 4k file for my vizio tv. Unfortunately, my edit system can only display 1080p.

I'm surprised the Kona down conversion is that bad for you. Thats kind of the whole purpose of their down conversion.
