What about an option to purchase with for eg` a 4mp sensor on the same size chip?

Yes you got the option to notch it down but what about latitude man? and 4mp will be like at least 20 stops and a bearable amount of data to deal with today! :badputer:

BTW does anyone know what "Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind" was shot on?
I was looking at the making and I thinks I saw Arri on that. any idea?

I'm not so sure a 4mp sensor will necessarily give you that much more lattitude. And designing a whole new sensor may be just a little too much for Red's plate right now since they have to do system's integration and software development still. I believe Eternal Sunshine was shot on Arricam 35mm.

thanks evinsky!.. and I thought arri was digital!

BTW I didnt want to start another thread for another question raised about how the sensor might deal with dust issues!

would one need to send it out for service to get the thing cleaned generaly speaking for people looking at using fast affordable primes?

thanks in advance!

Arri was and still is known for their film cameras! They do have a digital version called the D-20

sleep - ESOTSM was also shot using FUJI stock...the new Eterna at the time I believe - American Cinematographer had an in-depth article on the production....check the back issues...it was a cover piece
