Mixing D90 Footage?

Has anyone had the opportunity to mix D90 with lets say an HMC150 or HPX170? I'm curious how it would compare/hold up.

We're currently mixing up footage from our HMC152's & a D90 because they're the only cameras we use now (the XH-A1 has been retired). All I can tell you is that there IS a difference, the footage from the D90 just looks different (sharper, more black compression etc...) the difference is a breath of fresh air and the bokeh is to die for!! You certainly won't use your it to do multi-cam event work, like say toasts at a wedding. We use ours to do the more artistic music clip stuff. Every time I've used mine I always manage to overheat the camera forcing it to shut down, I'm looking forward to the second generation Nikon vDSLR because I could honestly use this thing all day if it were technically possible.

Anyway if you want to see what the two cameras look like mixed together have a look at this 5 minute highlight we did two weeks ago:

Hey, if you liked watching the clip please feel free to lay some Blog Love on me :D

it looks radically different so i wouldn't use them in the same scene unless for effect. i might dare to use one for exteriors and one for interiors for example, or one for flashbacks, and so on, see what i'm saying?

thanks guys. I shoot more documentary type stuff and it seemed like an interesting idea for broll/mos stuff and everything in scene with the HMC150.

How about a documentary of sorts with a Canon HF100 used for the main viewpoint with the D90 used for alternate angles/effects? If you were silly enough to want to do this, what's the best way to mix for output to DVD Video?

Should I keep the D90 at 24p and shoot the HF100 at 24p to match, shoot the D90 at 24p and HF100 at 60i and match in post, something else?

Thanks,
-Joel

24p of course, what's stopping you?

Hehe, nothing other than almost everything I read saying that 24p on the HF100 is a hack of sorts and more trouble than its worth.

I have a HF100 and and am seriously thinking about adding a D90 and just wondering if I'm crazy to want to use both in the same production (NTSC BTW).

Thanks for the reply.

it has pulldown that you have to remove. trouble, sure, but so is adding pulldown to d90 footage, and in the end you probably want to remove it anyway for dvd or web output.
