Other: Mitch, should we be excited about IBC 2016? :)

The new Zeiss LWZ.3 looks great but is 21mm wide enough? It's not a bad price either £8484.00. I think it will be very popular.

I'm excited by the new G.L Optics 50 -100mm T2.0 Rehoused Super Speed Zoom Lens.

I heard that Canon comes with news, and Sony will make some announcements too. Panasonic will have a news release.
And I guess DJI and Nikon have some news too.
And some rumours that Red and Arri (ahh-rhiy) will have exiting news.
And a lot of new software versions of course.

So nothing new concerning this IBC2016

I'll be there.

This could a game changer and a threat to Sony's F5/F55.

Really? Why would anyone go for the Canon when you could get an ARRI for the same price? You could get a fully rigged F5 with the new RAW recorder and a save a lot of money. Canon are so far behind everyone else they might as well just give up with the C line. I'm sure it's a great camera but IMO it's way overpriced compared to the competition and it's 2 years too late.

Me thinks price point will make the FS7
safe.

It's the first Canon I've scene ergonomically designed for filming, and if I didn't already have a Sony I would be interested, but other than marketing brochure headlines (15 stops range! Dual pixel CMOS AF!) it doesn't yet seem to offer much to pull productions in that market range away from Amira, ALEXA, RED, F55, F5 or Varicam 35. Certainly I think that 'game changer' seems to get mentioned about every new camera which comes out. ;-)

Don't get me wrong, I think it looks like a great development gear-wise from Canon, but currently UK prices ex VAT look to be around £22,500 for the body, £4000 for the viewfinder, £1300 for the shoulder pad and £1600 for the pistol grip(!) not counting other toys like the remote operation unit (£2000). OK for rental houses and productions otherwise mulling Arris, REDs or F55s, but considering the challenge Panasonic seems to have had [here in the UK] coming quite late to the party with their lovely Varicams I personally think that this is the camera that the C300mkII should have been.

Mind you, as a Sony owner, hopefully all the competition will give us something interesting from v8 of the F5 / F55 firmware and then with the R7 for rental I will still have a bit of time to fill the piggy bank before thinking about a new camera ;-) ,

Ben

I think that internal 4K ProRes recording will be a pretty big deal for a lot of users. It's important to note that this is a pro level camera, one that Canon hopes will be welcome on higher level productions where other cameras are not. In that way it is offering some unique features. If those features are enough is a different issue.

Why discuss C700 here when there is a separate C700 thread already going here on DVXUSER? Doesn't anyone want to ask me about all the OTHER neat stuff that's about to be announced? :-D

Please tell us anything you can. Will anything be kept secret until the last minute without any early announcements or leaks?

Different manufacturers have different announcement dates. I know that some will not announce until the first day of the IBC show (Friday the 9th). I don't think anyone is announcing on Monday because we all know it is a national holiday in the US & Canada and there's no point in announcing when people aren't around to hear. But come Tuesday there should be news each day, Tuesday - Friday.

There was a real dearth of announcements at NAB this year. I know for a fact that several products are announcing at IBC because they simply weren't ready in time for NAB.

I also know that one blog accidentally leaked some information earlier today because a setting was wrong on WordPress. Oops! But it quickly dissapeared and you had to be on the RSS feed to see it.

I'm not gonna be the one to break the embargo of info, even when I see others do it. What I will tell you is that there are a number of camera department product announcements from various manufacturers that I believe many here will find interesting. And there will be announcements from Convergent Design.

Y'all are just going to have to hang in there for a little bit longer!

Looks like I was wrong about no one announcing today. Cooke just announced the new classic Speed Panchro series. There's a lot of glass to be announced this week.
