Minolta Lens EOS Mount

I've seen numerous adapters on ebay which supposedly enable you to mount old Minolta lenses on Canon EOS cameras, but I also noticed that B and H doesn't sell these. Do these adapters work? Are some better than others? My local thrift store has some pretty nice Minolta lenses for cheap, and I would love to use them on my T2i if possible. Any advice would be most appreciated.

there are adapters that will physically work, yes, but you will not be able to reach infinity focus with them. Unfortunately, the Minolta flange distance (from the back of the lens to the sensor/film is shorter than the Canon one, thus meaning that you would have to sit a Minolta lens inside the camera body to get infinity focus, which would get in the way of the mirror.

So, in order to get infinity focus, adapters have to employ glass elements. These elements both degrade the image quality and also decrease the amount of light let through to the sensor.

Adapters without glass in them can be used for macro or close in shots though.

I wouldn't suggest investing in Minolta glass because of the limitations of them on Canon bodies.

If you do want to invest in some good manual focus glass, go for the old Nikons, they are fantastic!

I hope this helped some!!
