Hi,
i've not enough budget for an F100, so i'm opting for a portable Mac to which i will copy the P2 data from my HVX200.
To veryfy the footage, the laptop should be able at least to playback the DVCPRO HD footage.

So is a simple iBook enough to playback a DVCPRO HD footage from internal HD (5400 RPM) or should i use a PowerBook?
Thanks

I have a powerbook 1.67ghz. It does the job. I tried playing in an Ibook, and it struggles. Viewable in half screen (but struggling.)

If you have the budget, go for the last gen 1.67 powerbook.

Ok, so no iBook, but last gen Powerbook, thanks. How much RAM do you have? do you play from the internal HD?

Really try to stretch for a MacBook Pro if you possibly can. At the moment, Apple has MacBook Pro Core2Duo refurbs for $1899. I know that it is easy to spend somebody else's money, but you have already made the investment in the HVX. Try to make the stretch to get something that will really allow you to edit with ease.

i use my old 17" 1.0ghz g4 powerbook (working off the internal boot drive) and in well over a dozen field situations, its not missed a beat!

I've managed to get decent playback on an 1.42 GHz iBook G4 with 1.5GB RAM. The playback format is 720p 24pn. I used it for backing up and reviewing shots off a P2 Store using P2 Logger. I haven't tried 1080.

BTW, I was able to do simple straight cuts with FCPro on the iBook. I wouldn't go any further than that.
