Mini HDV tapes

Hello. I'm new to this forum, and new to the XH A1 world and the whole HD world in general. I just got my camera last week and haven't even recorded anything worthwhile yet. But I'm excited to start messing around with it this weekend!

My question is are the mini HDV tapes really worth the extra money? Is there really a noticeable difference in the quality and storage life?

I'm referring to tapes like these: http://www.tapestockonline.com/mini-dv-hd.html?gclid=CIbiq5Td-ZACFSosagodqH0r2A

versus regular tapes like these:

(I hope it's ok to post links?) Thanks for your comments.

I just got my XH-A1 today and I think I'll be running my regular Panny tapes that I bought for my DVX with this. They threw in a Canon HDV tape and sure the box looks pretty and everything, but I think the only real difference is that it lessens dropouts? I'm not entirely certain and would like a bit of clarification on the subject as well.

There is no difference in image quality across different brand of tape. I have been using Sony HDV tapes exclusively on my A1 but I'm considering running a cleaner tape and switching over to a less expensive brand. The HDV ones worked fine, it's just too expensive for my taste.
