Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

You asked. You get it. Here you are some pics of my mini35 fase 1:

Before starting the prototipe 0 with the radioshack project box, I realized that for the DVX100 was unusable. I changed to a metallic box, froma a small security box, but hard to work with it. So I decided to make my owm structure with steel. Yes, it's HEAVY, but solves the main problem of the previuos models. It's HARD as a ROCK. If you see the rods, I made it from tool to change the car wheels. Now I have a structure enough solid. I just cheched at http://www.movietube.com and like the design, so maybe I just add the shoulder pad.
The second problem I had to resolve now is to change the center of gravity, now it's out of the camera, and I think just into the mini35, so I have to make a tripod adapter.
I bought the metal ring for the nikon mounting for 15$, and had the frosted CD and the spin motor.
I'm waiting for my +7 achromatic diopters I bought from Amazon, and have to check all the city to bought some old nikon lenses.

By the way, this is my 'work in progress' dolly. Based on the Camaleon dolly design this is my IGUANADOLLY. Yeah, I have to change the wheels for bigger ones. It has an hidraulic arm, that supports 200 lbs, and the total weight, I think would be about 350lb.

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Hey guys sorry for the delay, I am going to try to answer all your questions in this post. I bought a P+S techniks mini35 Digital 400 series adapter and the connection kit for the DVX100a from the nice people at ZGC.

The Nikon lenses I use are the Nikon 14mm 2.8 which I paid about 1400 for new and the Nikon 85 1.4 which was about 1000 new and the older Nikon push pull 80-200 2.8 which was around 600.

The older 80-200 looks so good. I also have the New 80-200 afs vr but that is a newer G series lens that does not have an manual aperture ring so it is constantly set at f22 until you mount it on a Auto E Nikon camera. Since you can not auto focus any lens on a the Mini 35 I would suggest buying older less expensive manual lenses. I currently have the 14mm f2.8 , 28mm f2.8 , 35mm f1.4 , 50mm f1.4 , 85mm f1.4 , 80-200mm f2.8 and a 300mm f4. There is one lens I would love to get the 28mm f1.4 which about 1700.00 .

I think I have figured out why you see grain on the 2 outside images, I was shooting with the Nikon lens wide open @ 2.8 but I had the DVX’s shutter set to 1/1000 witch is basically freezing the oscillating ground glass. I think if you keep it at or under 1/250 that it is not a problem. But let me know if you guys I have heard or experienced different.

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Wow, those shots look great. The difference good lenses make. Good photography on your part, too. Now, are you able to use a focus puller with those lenses? Do they overall work just as well as "cinema" lenses?

Thanks.
