Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Hello everyone, this is my first post on dvxuser. I just got a mini 35 with the Nikon and Panovision mount and I wanted to post some stills from a short that I just shot with all Nikon lenses. Before I purchased the mini 35 I had a hard time trying to find pictures from a DVX with Nikon lenses mounted to the mini 35. So now I am sharing my pictures on the message board if any one is interested.

These were shot with the Nikon 14mm 2.8 @2.8 ( has anyone experienced seeing the ground glass grain when they are using a wide lens into the sky?)

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Thanks for posting. It would be most helpful if you could post the screen shots at full resolution. It's hard to see the details when they are reduced.

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Looks great, but bigger pics would be appreciated. Makes me realize how badly I need to get my hands on a mini35.

The grain in the sky is probably due to the 5600k white balance. Try an 85b filter with the 3200k white balance and your grain should be reduced (though your image will look a little different.) Also avoid the cinelike matrix.

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Actually the grain is probably due to stopping down the taking lens. The more you stop down on the mini35, the more visible the ground glass becomes. Try to keep the iris on the nikon lens wide open, and don't go below about f/5.6 on the DVX. Use the ND filters instead of stopping down the lens, to control exposure.

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Because you own a Mini 35, naturally I hate you ;D

But seriously, congrats on the purchase you lucky so-and-so, and if we could get some full 720x480/720x576 images to scrutinize properly, that'd be great!! :)

Aye. How much all that good stuff cost you?

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Nice what is the cartridge paper feel on the forst two. . . I love the last

That would be grain from the ground glass. Is this the P+S technick version? New? Old? I'm only curious because you shouldn't see any grain whatsoever with their system (oscillating GG)....

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

This mini 35 is great! Is it possible to use "true" anamorphic lenes on it?

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

Whoa, thanks for those pics. I'm building my own mini 35 with Nikon Lenses and I was asking about what could be the best combination of 3 lenses to buy it. The 14mm is amazing. Suggestions?

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

It was my understanding that Barry_S was already working on such a project (although "cheap" is a highly subjective term).

Re: Mini 35 and Nikon lenses

I believe it is Barry S as well and Im buying one! Cheap. You mean like a couple of dollars right? ::)
