Awesome UFO-Like Vehicle Gets 150 MPG

In order to maximize the efficiency of the vehicle, the designers installed solar panels on the roof. These solar panels store energy in the car’s batteries which can be used for short 15-25km trips. If there hasn’t been enough sun to power the batteries, each passenger’s seat comes equipped with pedals that can power the vehicles generator. If you are by yourself, or everyone gets tired, the car can switch to its small combustion engine that is capable of running on petrol or ethanol.
 I'm amazed that it is only $20,000. I know what my graduation gift will be. Unless of course better tech comes out by then.

Well it looks extremely low, and one solar car racer was already killed because his vehicle was so low an SUV wasn't able to see him. Hopefully it's built around some kind of roll cage.

Interesting. I just wish they would build more efficient "regular" cars, not these crazy space deals. Still cool, nonetheless, but I don't know if folks will accept the design of these things.

Damn it, Barry! You show me something that fits my needs in an alternative vehicle and then you tell me it's not real. Back to my point, now. Although, the new Chevy Volt is pretty nice looking. I would buy that.

Glen, there was actually a whole thread about that car already: [insert link here, I am too lazy to go find it]

the 3-D model looks much better, if they made all low drag cars look that good it might actually catch on in the future, say 30 years? but IF we become that aware and responsible

what I want though is a kick a$$ hydrogen production system, then again the $ in my a$$ is the reason why it might not be implemented for decades... that way though we would get the best of both worlds, can you imagine a Hydrogen Hybrid with matching 500 pounds of torque and 500 brute horse power... THAT would be the day!! and a revival of the big block kinds of days! hehehe... nah, I'd be happy with just 200bhp on Hydrogen and call it a good life if we could... but for most of the rest of my life I should be happy with less... or just go carting!

As long as they don´t make a Pickup Truck or at least a Station Wagon to transport my gear I continiue burning gasoline.
