Miller Solo vs. Manfrotto 535

I have a miller solo head & sticks here, and a manfrotto 503 with the beefier legs (351MVB2, with the double-tube upper stage and 2 single-tube lower stages).

The Manfrotto legs are aluminum but really well priced (with head, spreader and a nice bag were like $600). They are way, way sturdier than the single-post miller sticks.

The Millers, though, can click-out to go very low, way lower than the Manfrotto - low enough that the bowl-leveler post can hit the ground. Pretty cool sometimes (though now I just use my slider as a hi-hat). When you spread the miller legs that far, they can get a little "bouncey" - you really need to lean on 'em.

They both "deploy" at the same speed - just as fast as my old bogen still legs. I mean, there ain't much to making the legs longer. They're both 75mm bowls, but I tend to not be swapping heads at a shoot.

I generally prefer the Manfrotto legs to the Miller, just a lot sturdier. Unless I have some artsy "let's see what we can get while we have the talent & location" shoot and I may want to go low. They're likely heavier than the Miller, with all the extra tubes, but not enough that I give a flip. Sturdiness kinda trumps all.
