Military Deployment Video

Hey everyone! I've been lurking for a little while with a hobby-level (for now) interest in filmmaking. Just sharing the deployment video I made for my unit, construction engineers, while we were in Kuwait / Afghanistan over this last year. I know there's a lot of stuff to correct, but I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out given the equipment / conditions we had. I'm interested in hearing your opinions!

Everything was shot candid and handheld - no tripods, nothing staged, etc. This was my first time playing with after effects, and you can probably spot how I just modified some popular tutorials for some sequences. Thanks!

Great job Mike! I'm just cutting my teeth on AE and hope my tweaks come out half as well as yours.
BTW - welcome back. I've been back a year. I was playing in the sand in Iraq & Afghan.
I'm very pleased to say, my son, a jar-head, left Afghan today to fly back home.
I worried about him as the jar-heads are always in not so good places.
Sad to say his outfit has lost many people over 4 deployments.
He had some fun this time building dirt bikes for entertainment. they actually used these on patrol.
Again, welcome home and good job on the video.

Some really great shots there. Those slow motion/animated photos looked very good. Very well done.

Thanks for all the feedback! Tim, congrats on your son's safe return. I hope he gets some time to relax - I'm sure it's well-deserved. Bad ass dirtbikes, btw.
