Ok, so if I'm reading this right ... Adobe will be strictly MS? So no more AE for the Mac? No more Photoshop or Illustrator for the mac?

Final Cut has been dropping the ball the past few years. This might be an unwanted final nail in the coffin.

Well I didn't read it at all, but there is no way it'd be strictly windows if Microsoft were to purchase it. Microsoft is a software company. Just like how Office is cross-platform, so would this. Microsoft knows better than to cut off their current userbase by doing something they don't usually do. They probably want to overtake and wipe out apple's pro apps, which apple may end up doing all on their own. I don't think this would be a bad thing, but I could be wrong on all fronts.

I know you hate M$ but they are a good company, if they wernt, they would not rake in the cash like they do.

Contradictory. You have to understand the business well to fully eclipse a competitor, especially a strong one.
Not really. There are a lot of monopolies that have nothing to do with eclipsing competitors.

Especially here in Sweden. Systembolaget is a government run alcohol monopoly. They're the only ones in this country allowed to sell alcohol.
They don't do it very well either if you ask me. Sure, they know the merchandise well, but they don't sell cold beer. Why? Because that would encourage people to drink.
No really, that's their reason.
And they're only open until 6 or 7 on weekdays.

Another example is the cinema chain we have here, SF. They have a monopoly because there used to be two but the other one got bankrupt a few years ago. Compared to movie theaters I've been to abroad, SF doesn't do a very good job. Another theater chain tried buying up the one that got bankrupt but they didn't last long. That had nothing to do with SF having better prices or giving the customers better service (because they didn't). SF won that because they were an established brand with theaters in most cities in this country, not because they're good at what they do.

I think it's important to remember also that MS got on top when there weren't that many other computer companies, and they've stayed successfully on top as long as there's been a computer in every home.

So I agree with Michael.

as if adobe updater and windows update werent irritating enough as it is. even when turned OFF they both keep alerting to updates.

You don't even need to be connected. In fact, even if you're offline for a few months, the adobe updater will still notify you of new updates.
How that works, I'm not even sure I wanna know. Maybe they've decided the dates way in advance and it works on a timer.

lol thats what i was referring to; my work machines are not connected to the internet at all, yet every 60-90 days i get 'update' popups.

every time i update a working machines software something else suddenly has trouble; CS5 wont recognize a RAID drive, file format not recognized, file not found, etc etc. now when i get a stable running system they never get updated.

This is why machines will never take over the world.

lmao i always thought the humans vs machines argument was crazy. especially with microsoft at the helm, all we have to do is get our overlord machine masters to perform an illegal operation and BAM; BSOD; the world is saved by an 'IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL' error haha
