Micro Gimbal for GH4, BMPCC, A7s - $699 USD

Interesting that the CDNtech guys come into the PV thread and talk about patents against this little device. So, N4000 guys that spy on this thread.... You're patent is ****. This newer gimbal is just an oversized version of their gimbal they made fro GoPros well before your N4000. Buck up and compete. Be true to your product through design and customer service (which is lacking by evidence of this thread). The fact that you jumped on PV with your little patent BS while this company as had 3 axis handhelds way before you shows that your time and BS days are numbered.

Lets get this straight CdnTech. Nobody likes sore losers that think they own the patent to something they actually don't. Remember Litepanels, and their patent threats. Totally made me never think of buying a product from them. In the end and with all the evidence of your shady dealings with some of our users, maybe you should do both of two things. First, post your approved patent number (which I can assure does not exist). Second, improve your product and your customer service.
Many of us have been quite generous in this 71 page thread. But your little busting into the thread over at PV has put me off from dealing with you as a company and I hope this little gimbal from Pilotfly kicks your ass off the stage.

Ooh, somebody just got SERVED!

Yeah, this is what I was just talking about - more players in the game.
This model appears a bit superior in all aspects. The 1.2kg max load is also a small but significant improvement in that it allows for the use of more DLSR's even if a small lens is still required. The 1kg max load on the Nebula was just short of the entry point for most DSLR's.
With a pancake or other lightweight lens you should even be able to just get a Canon 5D on this thing.

Yeah, a year from now there will be a half dozen different players in this single-handle game. GOOD.

Agreed Christopher.
I loved what I first saw with the N4000 in posts.
I have two additional BMPCCs that I have rigged - one for a small jib setup and the other a Duzi. They're so small and inexpensive that it's a no brainer to just setup on location/set to grab and use as needed.
I was going to do the same with a Nebula and stick another bare Pocket on it with a little Oly 12mm.
Till I read the bad QC and service issues here.
And that was that.
Take care of your customers first is the basic lesson.

And yeah, after what LitePanels did to small indies like R Andrewski (CoolLights) I would never buy from them again.

The Pilotfly looks slicker than the Nebula but I doubt it's better; indeed, it's worse in some ways. Yes, it hides the wires and the motor attachments and has a nice paint scheme, but I don't see any improvement in the pitch axis adjustment mechanism, which is the Achilles heel of the Nebula (and all small gimbals). It looks like you would have to adjust the camera's pitch balance on the Pilotfly the same way on the Nebula, 1 with the placement and positioning of a camera plate screw (in arbitrary slots) and 2, the INSIDE adjustment of the arm to the pitch motor. In short, I don't see how it will be easy to balance a large camera on the Polotfly. It CAN be done, certainly, as the demo videos have shown.

Anyway, until I see the demos of the real balancing of cameras, I'm going to stick with the nebulous evil I know ;)

+1 dustylense!!!

Unlike the other gimbal, you can see where they've put a lot of effort into the balancing sliders. Each axis is both secure/stable (two rods) and the joint has an easy hand-screw to lock into place. My guess is you could balance any camera on that thing in a few minutes. It isn't small, but I believe they could take those same parts and make a one handed version.

Looks like there was a good looking series of small gimbals that used kickstarter last year, but there has been no activity on their site or facebook for a while and none of their selling agents (B&H or Adorama) list stock, so they must have folded.

Search GAZER GIMBALS or Gazer.com

The Pilotfly H1 looks pretty good, but again, tech details or videos are sadly lacking, even though they want you to pre-order it.

Cheers

Vaughan

Looks interesting, though the price jump after their 5 early-bird specials is kind of steep.

Ghost Gimbals v3 Kickstarter Campaign

they made a huge mistake by making the difference so much. who is going to pledge $1795 after seeing other people getting it for $995? people want to feel like they're getting a deal. and you definitely don't feel like that when you're paying $800 more for the same product.

NAB is only a few weeks away. I am saving my money till then. There should be a lot of releases for the same type of Gimbal

It sucks the easy to use handheld one is just for gopros or smartphones. Wish they could be used with smaller cameras like the Panasonic LX100.

Agreed. This is going to be the hot new gimbal in the coming year, the larger cameras are covered from MOVI to the knockoffs, then you have GoPro and smartphones with the small gimbals, now the middle is all that's left. I think we'll see a flood of them starting with NAB, I'm waiting as well.

Yesterday, I pre-ordered the PilotFly H1—they have a 10% discount on pre-orders, so I pulled the trigger. Rated at 1.2KG, it will handle most of my needs with the GH4.

It says motor load 1.2kg which I imagine is not the same as the camera weight capacity since the camera platform etc has a weight, too. It says it's rated for up to 1000g camera/lens combos.
