I hate that Lebron went there but I understand his reasons. Unless Riley can clear some cap space and get some quality role players the Heat won't win a championship. You can't get the ring with 3 players.

One thing for sure, Miami basketball has just been sent into the stratosphere! I feel bad for Cleveland but I'm Happy for Miami. They will be tough to beat if they get a few more quality guys willing to come in for league minimum.

I absolutely can not wait for the season to begin. Every loss will be over analyzed, every win will be over analyzed. but exciting times for Miami nonetheless. Congrats on landing him. I still think a championship is 2 years away though.

They better get a couple quality big men or the Lakers are taking it again. I am lebron fan, so I guess I'm a Heat fan now, But I thought how he did it was pretty classless but Hell, It's a new NBA and Lebron is probably its biggest star. At least the ad money went to charity.

Good luck. I wish I lived in Miami right about now. actually I wish I lived in Miami all the damn time. Great city!

The way he did it raised $4M (including $1M Nike is kicking in) for the Boys & Girls Clubs Of America), Lebron made no money from it. Not very many people know it was a charity effort.

Cavaliers have pulled all Lebrons jerseys and memorabilia from their store and on line store, that's pretty tacky, you'd think they would thank him for the good years and be happy for him but it's not the case, lots of anger in Cleveland.

Oh yea, get this, CAA reps Lebron but Arri (WME chief) is the one that put the charity deal together for the Boys & Girls Clubs Of America, there are some pissed off agents now :)

NBA doesn't play basketball; it plays some other sports.

But I agree that three players ain't enough. You need five good players to start, and very good bench, coaching, and no injuries.

James came off poorly in this whole event, particularly the infomercial on ESPN.

But so did the Cavs owner. Should have let James' ego speak for itself.

At least in my view.

Just watched the introduction of Wade, Lebron and Bosh on ESPN2. What a spectacle. I really hope you guys make the finals Chuck. If not, this thing is going to go south real quick.

Considering how much of a self-centered prick Lebron is, I hope this becomes a disaster... not that I'll be watching either way.

I was born and raised in the same city Lebron was, Akron Ohio. I remember when one of the players from his his highschool basketball team came to my highschool because they wanted more recruiters to see them. We are only about 1 year apart in age, and I've been a cleveland fan my entire life... I never thought I could ever want Cleveland to win a championship more than I do, but now that Lebron has left the team, it would be the greatest universe ever, if they (CLE) came back next year and somehow won. Don't ask me how, but it has a 1% chance of happening... and if being a cleveland fan for my entire 25 years of life has taught me anything... it's to hope. Because that is all we do in NE Ohio.

i'd love to see a non-LebronJames team shove it in his face. My god that would be amazing.

I don't think it will be disaster. I would not call Lebron a prick but when you are that young, with that much money and arguably the best basketball player on the planet it's kind of hard not to be arrogant. Kobe is the biggest Douche in the league if you ask me but some say he's the best. Athletes are different nowadays.

I have been to Cleveland a hundred times and it is a great town and I know it sucks that he left. Well at least I can still come to Cedar Point like I do every year.:Drogar-Shock(DBG):

Lebron wants a ring. Or 6. Period.
He couldn't do that in Cleveland, Pat Riley has made it very possible.
And Riley could be on the verge of chasing Phil Jackson's ring collection!

Wade, Bosh and Lebron all signed contacts for well below the max.
How often does that happen? They want to win.
I think others will come to Miami for way less, too. Yes, a big man or 2.
Hopefully we'll keep Haslem on D, he's tough.

Let me know if you're ever down here, Richard, especially basketball season! (shorts & flops in January?!)

And I feel bad for Cleveland, I know they had all their hopes and dreams wrapped up in Lebron. But the team and owner couldn't get it done.
And I actually think Lebron himself, in his carefully chosen words, apologized about as much as you'll ever see a pro athlete do for leaving a team.
I can't say Cleveland's owner handled it with class, though.

But hey, we've had to deal with TWO championship Marlins teams being completely dismantled, so I know what it like to lose players and teams.

Now the "hoop-la" (sorry) of his announcement, and the intro of the Big Three (didn't see), hey, that's ESPN and sports entertainment today.

But yeah, Lebron raised tons for the Boys and Girls Club, so if you need a show for that... so be it. Or SOBE (South Beach) it!

Even the Sharpees used for the contract signing spectacle will be auctioned for charity.

Bottom line, Kobe's probably not sleeping too well the last few days...

And me? I'm not gloating, I'm giddy, like a kid before Christmas, because we just got three big gifts. Can't wait to open them on Opening Day!!!

Lebron has taken himself out of the debate of being called a "great" player. The greats take the team they have and will themselves to a win.

Bird did it, Mike did it, Hakeem did it, Kobe did it, Duncan did it, I could go on.

Think about how great it would have been if LBJ said " you know what Cleavland is my home. I want to win and I want to win in and for cleavland".

This kid isn't an alpha dog like the truly great players.

Lakers are still going to kick Miami's ass. :)

See you in The Finals!!!
But... with Derek Fisher talking to the Heat (since James, Wade and Bosh came in "cheap", leaving $50 million on the table)... will the Lakers be back?

"Lebron has taken himself out of the debate of being called a "great" player. The greats take the team they have and will themselves to a win.
Bird did it, Mike did it, Hakeem did it, Kobe did it, Duncan did it, I could go on."

And they all did it with great supporting casts.

The great triple plays?

Magic, Kareem and Worthy.
Bird, McHale and Parrish.
Pierce, Allen and Garnett.
Even Jordan, the greatest, had Pippen (an All-Star as a supporting player) and Rodman (as a role player).

And, now, D-Wade, LeBron and Bosh.

Of course when Kobe went it alone, he kept losing in the playoffs, then whined in public and wanted to break his contract, demanding to play on a uhh... better team. LeBron, of course, was a free agent.

I still don't think the Cleveland could have won the Finals for years, if ever- too many extra pieces were needed, and the Cavs didn't have the cash.
And LeBron gave them seven years to make it happen!!!

The timing was right for Riley, and he made it happen.

And LeBron? The reigning two-time MVP at his prime at 25 should be admired for playing for less, to try to win a championship.

He chose to subjugate his (yes, enormous)ego, in the name of team.
He put winning above everything else- above money, adoration, even home.

So yes, the celebration is a bit early, but I think totally justified. :2vrolijk_08:
