Miami Heat in NBA Playoffs! Bring it on Mavs (and Heat Haters!)

After early season missteps, the Heat found their groove midseason and in the playoffs, beating the Sixers, the Celtics, then the Bulls and MVP Rose (and Deng) in an incredible come from behind victory!
(I salute the players and fans of Philly, Boston and Chicago!)

All three were beat in five games- next up, the Dallas Mavericks in The Finals!
(A reprise of the 2006 Championship!)

But it seems, from Mavs to Cavs, there's more than a few Heat Haters out there.

Was it The Decision (LeBron's announcement that he was going to the Heat)? :engel017:

Or just a general distaste for the crazy city at the bottom of the (gun shaped) peninsula? :kali:

So do you hate LeBron?
Hate the Heat?
Wish the Heat luck?
Not care?
Not know what this game is with a bouncing ball and metal hoop? :2vrolijk_08:

Tip off Tuesday, 9pm...

LBJ's "decision" left a bad taste in my mouth.

But...

I think it's safe to say that LBJ silenced a LOT of his critics over the course of these playoff series. The man is a closer, solid on defense and showed that killer instinct in the chicago series.

But, at the end of the day I'll be rooting for the Mavs as well.

Not a fan of the Heat and it's definitely LeBron that does it for me. He has incredible talent, no doubt. Yet I don't like watching him play. Can't pinpoint it but it just seems like he has this air of entitlement that goes way beyond most other NBA players, like we should all bow down or something. The Decision was dumb yet I don't think he's ever admitted it. Then you've got more dumb comments like his recent, "Guess there's about one more month of continued hate..." Really? Is that how you win people over? By insulting us as if all we care about is who wins? No thanks.

I'd love to see the Mavs take it but I expect the Heat to win. And I'll be *shocked* when the hate doesn't go away and LeBron can't figure out why.

I'll tell you what ... If Nowitzki plays as clutch against the Heat as he did against the Thunder, I don't see a good series on the horizon for Heat fans.

This town is on fire right now.

I'm pulling for the Mavs. I really want to see Dirk get the title before he's past his prime.

And it would be so good to get revenge after 2006.

Well, Wade was clutch vs Nowitzki and the Mavs in '06, and now with LeBron in the mix (plus Bosh has stepped it up, Haslem and Anthony play killer D, and Miller's 3-pointer is getting better for a guy with two injured thumbs), it should make for an incredible finals!

But LeBron actually did say The Decision was not the best way to make the announcement, and he (IMHO) seems more humbled playing on a team where everyone has made sacrifices in order for him to be here.

One provocative Miami writer actually said the country will be rooting for the team with the guy from Germany (not that there's anything wrong with Germans, Frank, et al), just as a point of irony. I guess he's right?

It looks like I won't find any love for the Heat here in the Cafe...

I made it to at least one game per series (plus shot a watch party at a club) but looks like I'll be watching this one from home.

Here's to a great series! Losers buy

I lost some respect for Wade with his take down of Rondo and then the crashing pick with Ray in their series. I like Lebron, and he had some class words too say re: Boston after they beat them... But wade ? Hmmmmmmmm

Dirk is the truth ... I like that. It's his time.

The Heat beat the Celtics by playing Celtics basketball, they got in their face and made the plays. I don't think Rondo's freak fall could be considered Wade taking him down, hard to take down someone when you have your back to them. Rondo knew the spin was coming so he tugged Wade's shoulder with his right hand and both ended up falling backwards. As for the pick, it's a part of basketball, you either go around or run into the pick if you don't see it coming.

As for disliking Lebron, who makes no claims of greatness and does nothing but show respect and give credit to opponents, are you judging him by what ESPN has been showing you since he was in high school? What they hyped him up to be? Or the NIKE commercials Wieden+Kennedy come up with? The guy is not a loudmouth, he doesn't get in anyone's face, the only thing he does is break your heart with 3s at crunch time.

Also the Heat beat Chicago who was the top defense in the league, coach of the year, had the league MVP, etc. etc. The Heat team will never get any credit but you can't help but be happy for the vets on the bench, if it wasn't for them beating Toronto in the last game of the season while the starters sat out, Dallas would have home court advantage right now. I think Dallas has a great chance of winning game 1, like Chicago did. But the Heat will wear the Mavs out by game 6.

Meh, I'm a big Bull's fan so a good deal of me wants to see the Mavericks win. I was hoping like crazy that somehow Cuban would have gotten to purchase the Cubs a few years ago - though that had a snowball's chance in hell of ever coming to fruition.

I just don't like the Heat, though I did come to respect their core (Bosh, LeBron, Wade) much more during the Chicago series. This year's Dallas team reminds me a little bit of that Orlando finals team: one dominating big man, a fast PG, and a lot of hot shooters. If Miami's defense can stifle the shooters I think they'll take the series pretty easily. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of the next CBA - I'm sure the Heat's success is a double edged sword to David Stern. The ratings have been MASSIVE this postseason thanks to their vilification however on the other hand if a select few teams are going to essentially swallow up all of the talent it leaves a good portion of the smaller markets in the NBA are in quite the bind.

Wade didn't "take down" Rondo- it was a bear hug just like those he receieved from the Sixers, Celtics and Bulls.
Unfortunately, they both went down, with Rondo, and his arm, on the bottom. Wade doesn't play dirty.

I guess the forum is verification of the theory that the Mavs are the new Cowboys- America's Team...:love4:
(what is it about Dallas???)

Edit: DChang, you and me against the world! U.S. vs us! Go Heat!!!

It's gonna come down to D and rebounds...

Wouldn't say it's so much everyone's love for the Mavericks as it is everyone's disdain for the Heat. Say what you will about the media's portrayal (it has been rather one-sided), it's not hard to hate a team that essentially threw their victory celebration prior the season starting.
