Miami's not normal, let me count the ways... How long do you have?In normal circumstances, at least half of fans stay to the end even in blowouts.
As far as the fines, the enforcement behind the protocol is as ridiculous as other COVID guidelines, especially being able to take off your mask to eat or drink in public locations.
First of all, all of the head coaches from Week 1 had them off at some point or another, but the league only decided to make an example out of three whom I guess maybe made less of an effort to put them back on after calling a play.
Secondly, Gruden and Payton both barely had theirs on tonight so I am interested in hearing if they will be fined.
Lastly, the entire organization gets together for daily activities, practices and travels with each other every day/week. At some point at some time, someone doesn't have a mask on at all times. The players definitely don't and I'm assuming many of the coaches don't either on their own turf in their own buildings, Tuesday-Friday.
It makes no sense that it would all of a sudden make any difference when they step out on the field for the game.
You've left off that they are all tested and those who come up positive are quarantined even if they're not showing any symptoms.
So, it's all for show.
PS. I was watching the US Open with no fans and the Buffalo-Miami game with some fans in the stands. The Miami locals sat in a 100+ degree heat with the anti-Covid masks on. Additionally, the contest was suspended for 35 minutes due to a lightning storm in the area. And yet there were still folks at the stadium at the end. I hope the hot dogs were worth it.
There was an old LA joke about the local fans - (I heard it on the air from Al Michaels)- "the LA fans are known for coming in late and leaving early. In fact, those who come in late often see those who leave early".What do you mean yet there were still folks at the end?...
There's a really cute Wisconsin based Packers/Bucks TV/online reporter. She was doing the preseason camp coverage with older beat writers. They'd be standing out of the Lambeau Field on a fully deserted parking lot .. wearing masks. And I am thinking, "Zoom out a little further and create the desired level of social distancing if that's what you must do". Each of the one-air personalities had a separate hand-held mic. At some point, these TV hijinks cross the old Jack Woltz threshold of looking ridiculous. Not an anti-mask comment, but YES, what you are seeing on TV is for show. Medical theater, as it's been put...
Six out of the nine host teams were allowed to welcome supporters on the first matchday of the season, with the number of spectators ranging from 4,600 to 9,300, filling 10 to 25% of the stadium seats ... Leipzig were allowed to give out 8,500 tickets through a lottery open to season-ticket holders. The lucky ones who won a ticket seemed happy and full of energy when they poured through the stadium gates, wearing their protective masks as demanded by the club. Once the match kicked off, ... 8,500 fans made as much noise as possible, clapping, stomping and shouting relentlessly.
In the days before the match, RB Leipzig released a rulebook for every spectator to follow. As well as standard advice on hygiene and physical distancing, the club thoroughly explained its safety regulations.
The stadium was divided into 15 sections, with each one hosting about 600 fans. Up to six people were allowed to sit next to each other. Five or so seats and at least two rows were empty between these groups to ensure physical distancing .... the departure was less organized than the arrival. Every ticket holder had to arrive within a specific time window before the match to get to their seat, but it was up to the spectators to leave safely and in an orderly manner.
There may be a ban on the spectator attendance in the UK until March.

It was announced last night that my state is going to begin allowing events to be attended again. At 7% capacity... So the 75K+ seat football stadium will be allowed to have a little over 5K fans.
COVID positives in the NFL are starting to trickle in with 8 new ones on one team announced this morning (total is less than 20).
I can't help but think there are many more across all 32 teams, but if not and these unprovable numbers are true then they are doing a pretty great job, especially for this contact sport.
Cam Newton just tested positive out of nowhere, 24-hours before the game. He's out for Sunday.
This is going to be such a mess with this season. Just doesn't work the same as the NBA bubble.
