Hello! There is a very cool movie on Vimeo and surely other websites called "METH". As iam currently doing some reserach on the dvx100b - because I feel I want to purchase one, i would like to know if anyone knows for sure that Meth was recorded on a dvx100b. I've watched alot of footage from dvx100 and it never seemed to look as sharp, and fresh, and non-noisy as this footage, so Im wondering if you could help me explain how come?

Link to footage:

Im not accusing anyone of doing anything fake, my point lye beyond what cam they used to record meth and is rather "Can you get this sharp/good looking footage with a dvx?"

Can you show me other similiar videos or explain why the footage often appears blurrier/with noise?

Thank you! Pardon me being a nublet!

wow, the up-converted version does look amazing.
I've got to know how he did that for sure.

Yes he did shoot that with the DVX. it's a trailer that's been out for a while and I've seen the SD version when it first came out. (and now the HD version looks even better)

I wounder what program he used when he uprezed to HD.
that's the key to this...

Im having a hard time understanding how you can uprez SD to HD?

Where can I read about this, any good section of this forum or somewhere else?
Because if you can get dvx quality like that... well... :)

Ps: Got a link to SD version?

we should know what software he used first, then figure it out.

just ask him, he should have the SD version too.
mind as well bring up the origital threat too.

Damn that does look good...Is he a member on this site? I'd like to get that type of quality too.

Can you export directly from FCP or Premiere Pro to uprez or do you need a plugin for AE or other Apple/Adobe applications? I heard about Topaz enhance but it is way too much...

looks nice. how did you uprez exactly, and should i usually film squeeze or letterbox. i know theyre better for different things but if i wasnt exactly sure where my film would end up, i am asumming squeeze, but does anyone disagree and say letterbox?

well squeeze is anamorphic 16:9 whereas letter box is 4:3 with black bars. if ur gonna be Colour grading it would affect the colour of the blackbars in letterbox i believe.

here's an uprezzed clip i did...just exported 1280x720 (HDTV option) in PPcs3

When you exported to 1280x720 what file type did you use and what did you use to upload to Vimeo. It looks good on Vimeo.

used media encoder in PPcs3 and chose the hdtv 720p 23.976 high quality option in the presets .pushed quality to 5 and used vbr 1 pass.
I think its an mpeg4 file.

I dont understand when u ask what i used to uplaod to vimeo. I just uploaded it like u would any video from whatever folder u have it stored.

I'm trying to figure out whats best. When I did this I first exported a full uncompressed avi at 1280x720 and then took that and made a smaller file (H.264) for upload to Vimeo. I think I should just do like you and export the original file to 1280x720 in Mpeg4 or H.264 or whatever.

An older version of Premier on a PC. I have to move it over to AE to get HD. Sometime this year I'm going to upgrade to the Adobe Production Premium. That will be sweet.

I have good results using AE. It treats video better than any NLE when upscaling. If ya look close, he didn't bring it all the way to 1080... has a lil border still. AE will keep the imagery cleaner than yur NLE will. I have not tried uprezing within the encoder but I'd venture to guess it muds things up much more than just scaling and rerendering in AE.

Is that METH trailer for a real movie? i'd definately want to see the full thing

from the original thread he (ozan) said he made this trailer just for fun. no movie, just this trailer.
