Meteor Strike

That looks pretty sweet man. Maybe a little too greenish though, in my opinion. You could try and make it look a little more orange or something, possibly a little transparent on the smoke trail too.

Looks awesome still. Kind of reminds me of Cloverfield

Yeah I saw that movie last night, so I was a little inspired and tried something like it, thanks for your feedback! Yeah, sorry about the color I added an adjustment layer and added some green and stuff and I guess I forgot to touch up the smoke and fire.

NICE! Only things i found wrong were the detail level in the particles/trail and the water looked a lil' cheesy:-P.

Thanks! Yeah i didnt spend much time on the water I just thought it would be better to make it look like it moved a little bit overtime. And yes Kdawg I added all the camera movements

Pretty cool, man.

I have no idea how to do stuff like that, but here are my couple of quick suggestions.

The meteor itself seemed a bit too visible. This big ball, rather than the trail and heat, and all that which should have possibly obscured the the actual meteor a bit.

The other thing I would say is that the meteor looks like it hits a building and then explodes, rather than plowing through any building and into the ground and then exploding... Right now it seems like a firecracker hitting a wall for lack of a better analogy... It seems the actual explosion should take place behind the foreground buildings rather than on top of a building. Make sense?

Later,
Jason

Yeah it makes full since, thanks man ill take your advice. I saw the same thing after I exported it. But it was just a test so I just went with it

Yeah, a meteor that size will do some major damage. Think 2000 nuclear bombs going off in one location. The shock wave will decimate the entire city. Those building won't be standing, and the amount of debris that would be thrown up would be massive. Good start though.

Very cool! I agree with the other suggestions but am still impressed with what you have done!

How did you do the debris flying off? Also, how did you create/composite the explosion?

Lastly...how did you animate the "handheld camera" movement?

Thanks!

Very nice! I would tone down the water ripple a bit and maybe add some Detonation Films stuff. Did you consider using shatter at all?

Thanks for the feedback!

debris: All I did was use particle world(A built-in AE plug-in) and just played around with that until I got the look of the particle I needed.

Explosion: I used particle world for this too. I just made the particles an orange color and blurred them a bit then added some CC and turbulent displace to it, and some radial blur.

Hand-held camera: All I did for that was added a little bit of wiggle to the image, then animated the position of the image to look as real as possible.
