Metal Music video with 60d+t2i

SWEET!!, I spent yrs in a grind core band, I only wish we had the technology almost twenty yrs ago to have a video of this quality. Im impressed, the cutting is simply amazing. Not much else to say, Just stunning!! How many times did they do the song in order for you to get enough footage for the cut?

Thanks man. They performed the song 8 times with no audience before the show, then played to the track 3 times infront of the audience (with 2 cams running one on a 50mm and another on a 10mm), then for the rest of the set we just shot slow mo of the madness. Yea, this was an actual concert, not a staged concert for the video. 4 other bands played that night and I got my glasses stepped on in the pit during the last band to play before the band I was shooting played. I learned that night not to go in the pit if you are at work.

nice, i dig the look, looks like it was a bunch of fun, i like how you used the DOF as a tool and not as a gimmick. good video.

really great cut man, editing is super clean, great shots, great movement, good job! What kind of stabilization did you use?

I used the cb-105 from dynamic video motion.

I love it. Gives the cam a heavy feel.

I only used it for the stuff that doesn't have the audience.

When it got to the part of the shoot with the live audience, I lost the screw that goes in the bottom of the camera, so I just shot that hand held. (professional right) I didn't tell anyone.

I emailed the company and the guy gave me the exact dimensions of the hardware. I went to home depot and now I have a ton of spares.

cool stuff, man- how'd you manage with all those strobe flashes on the cmos sensor?
I shot the entire thing @ 1/125 shutter no matter if it was 24p or 60p.
Some moments I handled them okay, but some of my footage has banding. You can see banding in the video several times, and I was expecting to get made fun of on here because of the banding. I was also dealing with 2 different kinds of strobes. The ones that caused banding were ones that fired single shots of light and are like dance club strobes. The other strobes were in the house lighting and those were multicolor LED lights in par cans (I think, don't quote me on that). The LED ones never created banding for some reason. I think it's because they can't flash as fast as the strobes.

One thing I did notice is that if the strobe isn't facing the camera strobing didn't occur, so next time I'll make sure that the strobes won't flash the camera. I still need to try it in a controlled environment.

Great shoulder mount for reality, and acts as a poor man's steadycam.
I've had this shoulder rig for years, perfect when mated with a Manfrotto quick release.

Much better than the $500+ rigs that take your hands away from the zoom rocker and focus barrel.

God damn! Great to see you can achieve these results with the 60D.

Looks great. I want to shoot a metal music vid, this is good inspiration.

Can you share any grading or CC you did in post?
