Metal Gear Solid Philanthropy 70 minute action film

Hey guys,

We recently finished a fan film based on the Metal Gear Solid Philanthropy video games.

I only did the music so I might not be able to answer all technical questions but I would love to hear what you think!

wow, 70 mins! thats astounding, im going to have to set aside some time for this, but ill reserve my spot here for a homage to one of the greatest video game series of all time. Ive loved every second of every major MGS game to date, cant wait to see this.

Wow. That was friggin epic.

The music was great. Was it all original? Either way -- kickin.

Obviously the effects stand out, but so too do the direction, set design and costumes.

It's unfortunate that this is a fan film, but I know it can go both ways. The name gets you lots of recognition (and if you're not a writer it gives you a comfortable place to start from), but you never get to actually own and distribute the piece. I mean, 20 more minutes and this would be a feature; and if it wasn't Metal Gear, there might be at the very least some foreign distribution for something like this -- with a bit more tweaking to the effects.

The dialog track was extremely distracting for me so that I actually skipped past some of the more talkative moments. I actually kind of wish this would have been in Italian with subtitles. It would have been easier to digest. But, honestly, the voice over was my only issue.

Kudos to all involved on this one. Inspiring stuff!
 
Very cool stuff. I kind of wish it was all in Italian as well with subtitles. It was tough to digest. Not to mention the dialogue itself wasn't anything great.

It took a bit of time to pick up, but when it did, wow. For a fan film, I was expecting sub-par action, but this was some pretty good stuff. I really felt along the ride as The sniper dude ran out into the open and started firing like an elite soldier, taking people several people down with one shot in a matter of seconds.

Costumes and everything are great. Just wish they could have gotten inside a real plane.

Acting was decent. Wonderful for a fan film. Not exceptional, but nothing too distracting (except at a few times).

Writting is probably the weakest parts. Aside from dialogue, the structure was everywhere and the story is a bit loose. Then again I've never played Metal Gear.

how long did this take you? What cameras did you use? What sound equipment? Where did you source all yuour actors from? How did you manage all the effects? Lots of green screen?
 
Have you thought about copyrighting the movie and sending this to the company. They may be able to do something with it. You could make some cash.

I'm impressed! I had so much fun watching this.
I agree that this could have been a feature action movie instead of a fan film. Some story changes and it wouldn't have been "Metal gear solid" anymore - it would have been your own creation that you could have sold.
 
York distribution may have even paid some money for this. Which is a miracle if it happens. LOL.
