may get cheap backup camera

May look into getting a cheaper backup camera to the a1. The two i have been looking into would be the hv40 and also the hf30. Any thoughts on the two footage wise? I am fine sticking with tape but also ok with going tapeless. Im familiar with the hv40 footage but havent messed with the hf30. Any sugg for decent camera in the same price ranges?

may even look into a 550d.

I've got 2 HV20s and soon a HV40 .. before they run out. I've got 6yrs of tape archives for a client, so I'm staying with tape for the foreseable future.

One day though, Sony et al will announce 'after xxxx DVtape cameras will no longer be supported'. Panasonic no longer import DV cleaning tapes to Aust. I bought a packet of 10 so I can sell my cams as going concerns.

The HFS200 is darn cheap right now....it's got native 24p, gain control, audio gain control...a high resolution screen. No evf though....you'd have to get the HFS21 for that.
 
I would highly the HF-S21. Super little unit. I can show walk-in customers shots from the XH-A1 and the HF-S21 and the newbies can't tell me what is what! Kinda makes me chuckle......
