Matt Sconce- Stricken

I´m also one of you looking forward for the final version:)...I´m watching this forum everyday!!!

Hey Larry, nice to see you here:beer:!!!

Larry, thanks for the pre feedback my friend...this score for Matt was more working that Leap of Faith because it was in a musical language I wasn´t used to write, but it was a great learning experience!!!
I wish I could have one or two more days to polish some things in the score but you all know - you are always the best critic of your own work:)!!!

Edgen, Charli, thanks for the interest...I´m also looking forward, I haven´t seen the score with all sound effects yet:crybaby:...:)!!!

Larry thank you! It might come down to that...we will see. Everyone, thank you for all the encouragement! Leo's work is amazing ESPECIALLY the last part of the movie. Award worthy! Larry, I think I will want my movie on the mirror, just let me know how to get it to you! I am a little bummed as trying to compress a fifteen minute movie down to 100 ish MB file does not let the sound be all it could be, but I think I have a pretty good copy of it for you guys to watch. -Matt :dankk2:

Matt... If you sent me an uncompressed version of your movie I could compress one with good sound. Using Apple Lossless is GREAT and not a big file.

If you have Brandon re-compress than I'll get the final from him. If not, then can you put it on your website long enough for me to grab it?

If not, then I will set up a temporary FTP server on my site (just not the best choice because it always runs slow for some reason).

Just let me know.

Peace,
Larry

Awe, its okay now. My film is on the list!!!! Just a note. Stricken is mispelled on the list. It should be Stricken. I don't think it matters at all, but I wanted people to know as it changes the meaning.
Brandon and Larry, thanks for your help, but I think it is okay enough for the fest. The goal is to get feedback to improve it before festivals, and I definitely think it is high quality enough for that. If I had my way I would have an uncompressed file for everyone to watch, but that just won't happen. I have one of the actors coming in to fix some echoey dialogue in the psychiatrist scene on Tuesday, so what you guys will be watching is a "Almost" final copy of the movie. It definitely kicks butt though!! Enjoy and I hope I give you a chill or two.......Mwah Ha Ha Ha!!!!

I will be watching your films soon!

Well, it has been fun everyone. Now, I will sit back and enjoy
it as people watch Stricken and comment on it. I am looking for
you to express how it made you feel, what you thought of the
pacing, lighting, script, music, basically everything, and I will do
the same for the movies as I watch them. I would love
constructive criticism as well as encouragement. I hope to learn
how to make this movie and my future projects better
through your feedback. Thank you in advance for watching
and until then.........
I am going dark.......

I was priveleged enough to see Matt's movie earlier than most have... as I helped him with uploading it and stuff... so I will be giving him my first review of the fest... I intend to give every film entered a comprehensive review such as this one. Thanks.

Stricken by Matt Sconce

Script
I thought the story progression was excellent! Some of it felt like it moved too fast for me. This is something you could easily adapt into a feature length.

Acting
Your lead was great! She really sold the role well for me, and played the freaked out girl really well. Your supporting actors I didn’t like too much, specifically the doctor, his performance was quite wooden for me, and sort of took me out of the story. Young Sarah was great btw! It’s always great to see young talent in these shorts!

Cinematography
Matt, Matt, Matt! What can I say? First I must say I’ve NEVER been sold on these newdangled 35mm adapters… I always hated the inherent grain that comes along with them. Your film is the first one I have seen that has shallow DOF and a crisp clean look. It’s totally gorgeous! One knock on your cinematography is some of the framing choices… I would have made several different choices, particularly in your close-ups. But that is besides the fact. Your film looks GREAT!

Editing
I thought your editing was terrific, the one qualm I have is I wish you had some establishing shots in between scenes. As I said earlier it moves along at a little too brisk a pace for me. Slowing it down with some exterior establishing shots might have worked. But besides that, great editing 

Score
WOW! Leo did another fantastic score! His score for “Leap of Faith” in Herofest was by far my fave. And once again he did a great job. It moves well through the film and hits at the right moments.

Overall Impressions
Stricken is a great short. I feel the story could be developed into a feature even better. The short feels a bit too briskly paced, but indeed, it never gets boring. You did a good job capturing the horror feel with your lighting choices and editing choices. Great short!

Crap, my sound is compressed and horrible. I will be working on that right away and will post a link to a better version as soon as I can. Compressing a 15 minute movie into a manageable file seems to be hard for me! Just know the sound rocks uncompressed, and I will prove it soon.
