Matt Sconce- Stricken

Well maybe he'll change his mind, in which case he's gotta get his site down ... and in which case we can all worry cuz Matt's got mad skilly.

....

I'm talking about the Zombie Fest DVD which had like 60 Zombie films on it from the DVXuser Zombie FEst which was last October and is no longer available (out of print).

I've never sold any DVD's from my site, but I suppose I should put something together incase a few relatives and such wanna buy one :)

but like I said I keep meaning to put the BTS for Shed online for free so you can download and watch ... maybe I'll get to it here in a few ...

Hey guys! I appreciate everything you are helping me with. Tonight is the restauraunt dress rehearsal so I am stressing. I am going to run through each shot on the list full dress and hopefully final lighting. This gives me thursday to mess with it and see what I want to change for the actual filming on Friday. Sadly, the one thing I do not have are gels, and no where around here sells them. I want the light at the end of the hall to stand out and love the idea of shooting a light off the wall in a different color, but do not know how to go about it. Any ideas that have worked for you? I am thinking a blue would be nice.

get the 75 gel pack from EVS express mailed.
or pick a few colors and have em send it on.

... wait are you saying no one in Cali sells gels ... how far are you from L.A., lol

pump as much light as you can from the door ... you will think "this looks rediculous, like its heaven back there" and then got to your master ped and crank it down to -11 or -16, then star with your iris all the way open and slowly turn down until you get the look you want.

The shadows will fall off to black and leaver herin silhouette and there will be a line on the door.

Thanks!!! I will definitely do this! I live in Fresno, and just found out someone carries one pack of an assortment of lighting gels!! Yay! I am heading over to the rehearsal shoot. I will let you know how it goes.

If you need gels or diffusion, we've got a large assortment here at Fresno State that I could provide.

Dude, Bryan!! I would love that! I would need them on my Sunday, Monday, Tuesday Shoots. Sunday and Monday are up in Oakhurst and Tuesday is down here in Fresno. I could definitely use the help and advice on set from someone who made the amazing "Moses"!!! I Loved that! I need Some Blues and maybe a Red, and then the clips to hold them on. Let me know if you want to help and also how to get the gels.

yeah you live in cali, you should have everything at your disposal.
Haha. I am in Fresno. That should say it all. 5 1/2 hours from L.A. and in the Central Valley. We have a lot of heat here but no Film anything. No one even carries a DVX. I should have just planned better. I missed the gel part of my research. I should have ordered them a while ago.

About the shoot tonight.----The rehearsal Shot went well. We had a snafu with the owner of the place and he told us his workers were overtaxed and that we could not be there unless we got one of them to stay for the many hours of the rehearsal to "Lock Up" I thought he would let us lock up when we were done. but nope. So, then I ended up paying a worker 20.00 an hour to stay for us. "Ouch!" and It looks like it will be a long shoot on Friday night, and I will be paying her then too. She definitely deserves it for staying there the whole time, but it is a big hit on my "non-existent" budget. I will post some grabs later from the dress rehearsal. I like the way some of it looked. It definitely prepared me for Friday. I had my DVX on the settings I use for the M2 adapter at the start of the shoot without realizing it, so the pictures are sharp and noisy. I realized this later and set the detail levels back to scene 5 settings. Oh well, good thing it was just a rehearsal! I will post soon!

Grabs from Dress Rehearsal

Grabs from Dress Rehearsal

Hey everyone! Here are some grabs from our Dress Rehearsal of the Restaurant Scene. They have not been Color Graded yet. I tried to get a lot of light into the scenes so I could get a good feel of what I wanted for the Friday shoot.

I am happy with how they turned out so I am much more confident for Friday's Shoot. :love4:

hmmm...I just made some homemade blood! I am going to the store to get some blue food coloring to darken it up a bit.
Great grabs ... and regarding the homemade blood ... have you seen the Shed BTS ? Bawahaahahaha! (seriously though, it's on there)

Hope I catch you before you go to the super market ... although you've already made a batch ... but for your next gore out scene ...

Here's the easiest and cheapest way to get great blood IMHO.

1) Buy a bunch of bottles of Strawberry Syrup like Nestle's Quick or preferably and off Brand
2) Buy a bunch of bottles of Chocolate Syrup.
3) have a mixing bowl or bucket on set
4) Mix the blood on camera for the appropriate brown to red ratio.

As for price you can get about seven bottles of each if you buy off brands for less than $20 to $30 and a little more with name brands ... but this is A LOT of blood and you didn't have to cook anything or mix it and it's always right on camera, because like epoxy, you mix the two halves under the actual use conditions.
One or two bottles of this in pro blood would cost about $50.

Is it sticky? Yes ... but so is the homemade kind.

I usually work with the above plus one small eyeliner sized bottle of pro coagulated blood and one small bottle of pro runny blood.

:love4:

I used Corn syrup, Chocolate syrup, 3 bottles of red food coloring, water, dark corn syrup and 4 drops of blue food coloring. It is looking nice! I might add a bit more blue. Thanks Jack! I will definitely use your method in the future. MUCH cheaper than my method. :furious3:

Glad you guys like the grabs, we film that scene tomorrow and then we are filming every night until Wednesday. I'll keep you posted!

While I am waiting for tonight, I thought I would add some grabs from the rehearsal that were color graded. I really like the feel they have. Night time in a restaurant, with a storm coming, and someone about to go insane.

First page updated as well.

I like the shots. May want to go even a little further and see what you can get... tweak the coloring more, play with the curves... never know what you might come up with... I DO like the sutile grading you have on these shots.

When I used to use AVID, the biggest love of mine was the color curves. I loved the way they updated in real time as you slid the curve. It seems like Premiere 2.0 lags like crazy when trying to slide the curve and only shows the result when you let go....hmmm... Maybe I will CC in Avid and then do the rest in Premiere 2.0. Thanks for the suggestions Brandon!
