For monitoring my 24pN footage in both HD and SD from FCP in real time which one provides the best means of doing so the Matrox MXO or the Black Magic Intensity Pro Cards?

Which one should I throw down for?

Matrox MXO without a doubt. Now the Intensity does allow for capture from HDMI cameras, but if you are looking for a monitoring solution, the MXO is head and shoulders above. First, you can monitor via DVI an Apple CInema Display or comparable (I use a Dell 2405). Next, you get SDI with embedded audio, composite and component. You can also downrez in real time. Finally, the latest software gives you some ability to calibrate the monitor with bars supplied as a graphic by Matrox.

I can't say enough positives about it.

I think you will ultimately get more accurate monitoring from MXO than from Intensity. Intensity has its pros in other areas-- capture, and digital output to plasma or LCD big screens.
