Matching HVX and A1 Footage

I currently have an HVX200, and I'm considering getting an A1 as a second camera. I know some of you have experience with both, so I wanted to ask some advice.

First, is it fairly easy to get footage from both cameras to match in terms of color and "feel"? Can you get it close enough so that the audience cannot tell the difference when you intercut pictures? Any suggested settings would be welcomed. I plan to shoot mostly 1080-30p or 24p.

Second, how hard is it to intermix DVCProHD and HDV footage in Final Cut Pro?

I think you can get a reasonably good match between both cameras, but you will want to convert A1 HDV footage to DVCPRO HD in order to make things easier.

I don't know if you can get a perfect match though because both cams have inherent differences in look and feel. You may want to take the A1's sharpness down a bit and push color saturation...and yet you'll still likely need to do some fairly signifigant CC on both in order to pull it off.

There's a guy here at the forum that owns both cameras and he posted some side by side footage a while ago. I didn't find the difference to be that extreme. I think it can really be done.

If you can get the color to match, you will need to saturate the A1's footage a little more because the HVX is a little more saturated.

Thanks for the advice guys. I read in another thread that Barry Green was going to post some side by side test results, but I don't think it's up yet.

Also, I think ncje has both cameras. What's your opinion on intercutting footage?

I've sent the article and the shots in already, so that part's out of my hands... I would imagine a talented CC artist should be able to get them to match in post.
