Matching DVX Cameras - For Multi Cam Shoot

Hello

I am just curious if DVX cameras can be matched - for time code & scene files(settings)?? If so would we use a Firewire?

This is for a multi DVX Camera shoot....just trying to sink all cameras up for similar looking picture.

Thanks!

I believe there is was no way to properly 'sync 'the DVX100 until the DVX100b came out.

The best you can do as far as color goes is just go into each cameras Scene settings and make sure it is the same. Then white balance them all in the same space. Then to sync the cameras when you start shooting - roll tape on all DVX's and have someone with a camera flash ready, have all the cameras point at that person and then have them fire the flash. Don't stop rolling tape or you'll lose sync.

Thanks so much for your response!

For some reason I thought there was a way to dasiey chain them together to transer files.

The DVX100B (and HVX200) cameras can be daisy chained as you describe to sync for multicam shooting. Read the article on TC sync for some great tips.

Another poor-mans trick to syncing multicam is to point the 2nd, 3rd, etc, cams at the video output (LCD or monitor) of the 1st camera once they are all rolling and visually record the Timcode of the "master" camera from the OSD onto the video of the "slave" cameras. Then in edit you can quickly compare the relative timecodes between cameras for sync.

But be sure all of the cameras are in Free Run timecode mode, else this will change every time a camera is started and stopped.
