1DC: Matching Canon 1DC to Canon C100/300/500

Has anyone come up with any picture profiles to match the Canon 1DC to the Canon C100/300/500? I recently purchased a lightly used Canon 1DC to use as a B-Camera with my Canon C300. I'm looking for a profile that I can use to match the 1DC to my Canon C300 without using C-log. Unfortunately most of the projects I work on rarely see any color grading since they are usually turned around quickly.

I typically use the Wide DR profile on my C300 and would love to be able to match the 1DC to the C300's Wide DR profile.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

CLOG and CLOG might be your best bet, though I've found that they don't quite match between the 1DC and the cinema cameras. I personally use the 1DC in neutral with the contrast turned down and a modified WDR profile with increased saturation (+8), a reduced black pedestal, and a slightly increased gamma curve. I can cut between the footage and not tell a difference. The 1DC can't match the reduced saturation and dynamic range of WDR in any of it's normal settings.

I understand that CLOG is my best option, but unfortunately I don't do the post work on most of the jobs I'm hired on. I simply hand it over to an editor that must turn around the project very quickly and does not want to deal with LOG.

cpreston, I will try to come up with a modified wide dr profile like you have done.

Yes, i have a 5D Mark II profile match on my C100 that I downloaded from someone a few years back and it does a really nice job of matching the neutral setting on the 1Dc… It's the only profile I use on my C100. I agree with you on the subject of many of my clients won't color correct the footage. I actually wrote a blog on this subject and show footage that was shot on the 1Dc and then I do a split screen clip to show how little color correction I often do to the footage. Here's a link to the blog… you might find it interesting:

If you send me message from the website, I will try to pull the profile off the C100 this week and send it to you.

I understand. But if it were me, I'd probably still de-log it myself and then deliver 4k ProRes files (pretty much the same size).

In FCPX you would import from CF-card and directly add all the clips in their entirety to a timeline where you'd make one default de-log correction. Then export new masters (default is ProRes 422) and you'd have all the clips with their original file names in de-logged 4k ProRes.

At the same time you would up the price of your service a little for now delivering cinematic 4k images in edit ready ProRes, instead of DSLR footage.

Thanks for the info Chris! I sent you an email through your website regarding the picture profile you use on your C100 to match the neutral profile on your 1DC.
