C100: Matching C100 with XF100

So I bought a C100 which I am learning to use and falling in love with this camera. I sold my 5D Mark III to purchase it and it was the best decision. Now I have the C100 as my main camera and need a Broll camera for our shoots. I am trying to figure out a way to get my XF100 footage to even look ok next to this camera and its just not happening. So I was thinking about selling the XF100 and getting a 70d to get closer in image quality. So can anyone help me here on these issues...

1. XF100 settings that might give me a close to flat image to even have a chance to match with C100
2. Settings that a 70d would use to match the C100
3. Or any other camera out there that can get close for around 1800 bucks.

I know I am not going to buy a 1800$ camera and it look just like the C100, but the XF100 looks like mush when side by side. Any advice or help is welcomed as I need a B Roll camera pretty quick.

Thanks in advance. :)

I'm curious to see what a GH4 can do. It has the sharpness coming from 4k, and the C100 is essentially a 4k camera that down samples on the fly. Matching the Panasonic color science to C100 might be tough.

If your problem is the deep DOF video look of the XF100 compared to the C100 I dont think there is a solution. XF100 is a small sensor video camera and there is no way to make it look ''cinematic'' in the way the C100 is. Stopping down the C100 just to match the DOF of the XF100 is something I would not recommend. Its just like killing your C100. Of course it could work for certain shots. The 70D can match easily the DOF of C100 but then you will have a problem with sharpness because the 70D is considerably softer than XF100 and C100 of course.
So if your problem is lack of sharpness...just forget the 70D. From what I ve seen the GH4 could be the best option right now to match the C100 and probably the Sony A7s which is not released yet. From camcorders the Sony AX100 is really impressive and could also be a solution I believe.

Thank you for the reply on this, we are not shooting really shallow DOF we are shooting at about F8 or F9 on the aperture. We are shooting some training videos where the talent walks around and talk and does training. We want to match the color style and somewhat the sharpness. I know we can match the C100s sharpness completely but just something close for B Roll. I didnt know the 70D was soft but will check into that right away, also the sony is a great little camera but lack of custom pic profiles kinda worries me.

I am hoping someone on here has mixed XF100 footage with C100 and has a custom profile that will match the color but we shall see.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

You can set both cameras in the custom picture section (left side on C100, menu on the XF100).......if you are not going to color in post, use my favorite, Cine Gamma 2...once you white balanced the cameras together, they should be pretty close in color style and look.

THIS!
I have been using a XF105 and a C100 together for quite sometime. I do use another CP for the XF105 but it's very easy to match in post. I can get them identical. It's actually harder to match a Canon DSLR together with the C100 IMO. The XF100/105 and C100 are very identical when it comes to the color.

Thats great to hear... would you mind sharing which profile you are using on the XF105 and also which profile are you shooting with on the C100. I have been shooting with the WDR on the C100 and really like the look of that, so not sure if there is a profile to the XF that could somewhat match that one. I will be doing some color correction in post but nothing heavy at all. Also do you have any footage uploaded to Vimeo or Youtube where you mixed the footage, would love to see that as well. Again everyone has been super helpful on this forum :)

Going to try this tomorrow and see how the footage comes out, was thinking of trying and using these BBC I think it was type of CP, but everything I see online about those are several years old. Does not make them bad because its the same camera but wasnt sure if there is something better that has come along in CP since.

I find when matching cameras, color temp and contrast are by far the main two parameters that bring the footage together.
