C100: matching C100/C300 Wide DR to DSLR

Hello,
I have a 2 interview shoot coming up, shooting on 1 C100 and 1 60D.

Does anyone have recommendations for picture profile settings to match the 2? I'm planning on using the stock Wide DR scene file for the C100.

Thanks!

There was another thread about this not too long ago. IIRC the consensus was that you'd have to "dumb down" the C100 to match the DSLR since if you could make a DSLR look just as good as a C100, then why would anyone spend the money?

Anyone happen to know what that other thread was?
FYI i'm not using a c100/60d by choice, it's what's available for this particular shoot. simple interview setup, so i'm not too concerned about it matching, just wanted to ask what people have done that was successful.

I did a little testing. Some say to set the C100 to EOS but I tried to go a little flatter with both and with some grading got close. I would shoot a grey card with both cameras for easier color correction.

Here's what I do and I have both of those cameras. The color is close, but not perfect. Set the 60D to Neutral and -4 on the contrast and -1 on the saturation. It matches fairly well to the C100 at WideDr. Output everything at 720p and resolution will match.

The 60D can shoot 1080p, but it sure doesn't have 1080p resolution. The C100 is much sharper. The image sharpness matches if you output at 720p. You can add a little blur to the C100 footage to get it to match the 60D if you want to output at 1080p. Sometimes it looks like it matches if the 60D is used for the closeup and the C100 is used for the wider shot.

Ah, wasn't sure what you meant but that makes sense. Is the sharpness really that noticeable between the two that you'd take the resolution hit to drop the whole project to 720? Seems a little extreme as a solution to me. I'd throw a little sharpness at the 60D first.

Yes, the sharpness is so jarringly different that you have to soften the C100 footage or else it doesn't cut together. I have never tested the actual resolution of the Canon DSLR's, but I remember reading that the effective resolution was somewhere in the 800 range. Sharpening the 60D can help slightly, but it never gets to the level of the perceived sharpness of a C100 and it starts to look real ugly real fast without a VAF filter.

There was one you had to pay $6 for that matched well. But neutral is fine, too.

Just shoot the tighter shots on the 60D, it will mask the lower resolution and lower dynamic range if you frame out areas of high contrast or blow them out with shallow focus.
