GH2 Matching a Canon 60D with a possible GH2

Hey everyone,

I'm directing a music video currently and it's a two day shoot but they were separated by a week period due to some scheduling issues. My DP wasn't available both days so I'm using a second DP for the second day. The scenes we're doing are different in tone than the first day (1st day was mainly interiors with one exterior while the second was the opposite) and the the first day was shot with a Canon 60D with an 18 and 25mm lens. He's also going to be doing the color correction on the overall video.

The second DP I'm using doesn't have a 60D but has a Panasonic GH2. My first was against the idea of using a different camera since they might look too different, even offering to lend the camera (but would have to rent out the lenses from a website). I'd have more lens options with the GH2 so I've been leaning that way. My main question is if there's an actual big difference between the two cameras if you're shooting outdoors. Obviously the scenes will be different and such but are they pretty close in quality to where they won't be too different?

What a biased load of poo in that link,so many drool over canon DSLR video but having owned one i know its soft oversaturated ----

Well the author may prefer Canons...but I think his technique with the GH2 does produce a decent character similarity. I've used the settings he lists and I agree the resulting image characteristics match up pretty well with what a friend of mine's Canons put out.

TTB - This video was set up as "60D vs the GH2", but I think it also shows that the two cameras can be intercut fairly seamlessly if you watch the depth of field and the moire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrNKfzNYKV8

Using the same lenses, the stock GH2 will be sharper, but you'll only see that if you're looking for it. I shoot dynamic color on the GH2 and dial the auto white balance over toward magenta (away from that awful Panasonic green), and the color straight out of the camera is close to my old Canon's.

Good luck - and, if you can, please post a link to the video when you're done!

Well i must live on a parallel universe,i sure dont have to look at my captured canon and GH2 footage and look for differences in sharpness.

My old HV30 had more resolution than my 550D,of course the footage of any cams/cameras can be made to look similar artificialy in answer to the origional question.
