match T2i and Gh1

I have been shooting a feature with a Gh1 for several months now with the Gh1 and am very happy with the footage, using all Zeiss lenses and shooting 720p.

I have a few car shoots coming up so i needed to buy a second cam that allows monitor out.

I chose the Canon t2i and will most likely monitor via usb to my macbook, just as a focus exposure check since it only previews about 12fps.

Any ways I use the smooth setting on the gh1 i found on these forums and im very happy with the Image.

Now i have a t2i is there a comparable setting? in the few tests ive done the t2i seems very saturated, and even with contrast turned down its still quite contrasty.

of course the image on the t2i would be fine if i continued to only use 1 camera and used the t2i exclusively for these scenes. But now i have 2 cameras so if i could id love to shoot a 25mm and a 50mm at the same time.

thanks alot

Not sure about T2i...does it have the same level of picture adjustment as the pro cameras? On a 5D the best is Neutral, Contrast -4, Sharpness +/- 0, Saturation -2.

lol, "pro cameras" . Yes the T2i has those same exact options you can even download picture styles and apply them to the camera.

You know Ben you need to get a hold of a T2i and actually work with one before you keep thinking so poorly of it as it's an excellent camera.

I know it's an excellent camera, and I have used one. Anyway try those settings...those are the flattest non-downloadable.

I simply said Pro cameras because that's what they are! The 5D and the 1DmkIV represent Canon's Pro lineup, the 7D is more of a prosumer camera but is pretty much a pro level backup camera. They have a number of photographic features not found on the lower end cameras and also feature metal bodies.

The T2i is the highest end consumer level SLR they make, brushing with "prosumer." It's in there with the XSi, etc. Therefore there is nothing wrong with referring to it in contrast with the pro cameras...because that's what they are. It doesn't mean I think poorly of it, any more than I would think poorly of an iMac (part of Apple's consumer line), or of my GH1, or of a nice point and shoot like an LX3.

+1 Excellent explanation. Now to the problem at hand with the OP you might have problems because the Gh1 and T2i output a different image. Someone with more experience might help you out , have you thought about making everything Black and white?

I feel like they should be able to intercut fine, just get them both as flat as possible and then match them with color correction in post. I've done some intercutting with the GH1 and the 5D and it was pretty seamless.
