Looking for some feedback on my showreel

Hello

I've put together my first showreel and was hoping to get some feedback. As a DOP showreel I've left out any dialogue scenes...I figured it wasn't necessary to show Wide into Over The Shoulder type work??? - Just important to get a sense of my lighting style and eye?? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks v. much in advance!

Dislikes: The majority of your ECU shots did nothing for me because they failed to show the scope of the scene or a good sense of lighting. Too abstract to tell me anything. The feeling that the camera was mounted on a paint mixer didn't do the reel any service either. The exteriors did nothing for me but show that the camera was pointed in the general direction. For the ECU and exteriors, use only those shots with especially striking compositions.

Likes:
01:57 Nice composition on wide shot of sidewalk
02:18 Nice reflection/flare or whatever
02:35 Sequence emerging from elevator showcases nice moody work

Thanks for taking the time to watch it. There is a deffinate verite style to my work which I guess isn't to everyone's taste...I'll certainly look through my footage and incorporate some of the elements you mention.

Thanks again.

Very nice. I like the ECU's actually, very moody. But for a DP reel I have to agree, maybe cut down on them and go for some more Mediums or long to show an entire set-up.

I enjoyed the stripper and the guy in an oxygen mask scenes though. Very well shot. The close ups worked well for those scenes.

Thanks guys for your constructive comments. I will look to replace some of the ECU's with mid/wide shots and will deffinately try to tighten it down.

I agree with what has been said. In terms of tightening it up I would say some of your shots run long, especially in the beginning. For example the 3 guys putting on their sweatshirt hoods we don't need to see all of that action. Some nice stuff though, really liked that dark elevator sequence.

Good Luck!

very interesting footage.

just like everyone else said so many of the ECU's were a little disorienting. but overall, liked it.

loved the black and white shot of the man sitting behind the door.

i'd hire ya.
