Mass DSLRs at concerts, performances, etc

I'm curious if any one has tried getting a bunch of people with DSLR's to video a concert or something and then edit them all together later.

It would be cool for DSLR owners to find similar shows or concerts to go to, then everyone can video it with what ever sound device you can get up. After that people can upload their footage online, or at least their good footage, and anybody is free to edit it all together. People could edit the shows, just a song, etc. Could be cool.

It's pretty much a video version of 'tape sharing' and I'd be curious to see if the same bands that support tape sharing would support something like this too.
 
I saw a doc on Cable a while ago were a bunch of fans had done this for a Beastie Boys concert,footage looked cool once it was put together.def worth looking into doing,im game to be a part of that!!
 
yeah, seeing the Beastie Boys one was very interesting, I imagine logging and sorting through all the footage was the biggest pain in the rump ever though
