hello is there somebody who tried to connect via Component YPbPr HD Marshall monitor V-R70P-HDA (= HD Marshall monitor without HDMI input)? is that working and does it make sense? Thanks 5d/7d I have no use for this lovely monitor and FURY for 150$ would be nice ressurection of my Marshall :-)

or is that waist of money and better way for life to buy V-LCD70XP HDMI (V-LCD70P)?... thanks for any suggestions, i have no resseler in my country, so i have to risc otherwise... i think that HDFURY II should be the right choice.

I have an HD Fury2 that I used with a 7D, to go to the component input on my HD monitor. It works fine. However, you will need to power it separately. The 7D actually powered it a little bit, but then when the battery level of the 7D drops below a certain point the video levels go really low on the monitor, so definitely don't try to self-power it. Get the $2 USB power supply from MonoPrice.

"work fine"means it is worthy buy? or just something what you would leave after couple shooting ang go for HD Marshall with HDMI natively?

sounds good... in connection of my usage of external noname 12V batteries with USB output as well it can work...

Well... that depends on you and your tolerance for such things. The monitoring quality is good, it looks good. However, frankly, I am not a fan of using jerry-rigged solutions, so having an adapter dangling off the monitor and having to use a separate power supply and that being USB so needing an AC->USB adapter connected to a cable that connects to an adapter that connects to a cable that connects to the monitor... meh.

My solution is to get a TV Logic monitor with both HDMI and HD-SDI inputs. I'm not saying the HD Fury didn't work, it did. It ... well, look -- some people have much higher tolerances for working around limitations, and for some folks the lowest-cost solution is the only solution they can go with. And for that scenario, I think you can get perfectly satisfactory results with the HD Fury.

But if you have a choice of buying a better monitor, that does what you want inherently, then yeah, get the better monitor.
