Manhattan LCD

I bought a 10.6" Samsung kit from ManhattanLCD. Great looking image and affordable ($400). Unfortunately, at the time, the kit was just the "guts" of the monitor. I had to purchase an aluminum enclosure from an electronics supplier and modify it to accomodate the LCD and electronics.

It wasn't difficult, just time consuming. Great product for the price though.

This the the thread that caught my attention: http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=3448

Hi Neal,

can I ask how you liked the monitor?
did you get the full resolution through component mode even when it was attached to the HVX? (1366x768)

do you have any experience working with other monitors out there? so maybe you can compare it with it?
,,,because the resolution is 1366X765, so it should be better then the Marshall/Ikan/Carrion/Panasonic right?
can this really happen??I'm sure I'm missing something....??

Hey guys I'm looking at this monitor and thinking why don't I have this yet? It seems really affordable and has great resolution. My only question is... will it work with Nebtek's Lithium Ion Battery Adapter. If anyone knows, and the answer is yes sir, then I think I may pick this bad boy up. Any one know?

MANALIVE. That's AWESOME. Thanks for finding this and posting this. Would be great for anyone to give a good solid review and comparison. At this price.. seems too good to be true and I need an LCD for sure. I thought I was going to get that IKAN monitor that has suspect build quality. This one looks absolutely great for the money.

So does it have the RGB component imput that we need for our HVX? A 12 volt brick battery is a cheap purchase and would still make this cheaper than the Ikan...

If anyone has bought this or owns it.... a review would be awesome!

Technical specs tab shows component inputs.

This looks good, but I always have concerns about any commercial/retail web site that lists no address, telephone number, and a yahoo or similar e mail address

It seems to be a DIYer who started selling them. I think at this price might be worth a try... 1/3 of the price of the Marshall.

We have a Nebtek and love it and the service it comes with. We will probably be getting the new version at some point and you can't beat the battery adapter. Who wants to carry yet another type of battery.

This is true when you say the updated one you mean the one with the SDI if so abelcine has a great deal on those.

We have an older version but debating on the upgrade since we sprang for the RED and want to see what their LCD is all about.

I have personally talked to this guy and he has been around for awhile. He imports the units in from overseas and generally I have heard pretty good things about him. Seemed like a nice enough guy. I almost bought 50 of those 10.9" LCDs from him. Cool stuff. Looks like he decided to source the enclosure and put them together himself because he saw the demand was there. I too learned of him from the DV20 DIY thread.

So not the SDI one then you talking about something different.
So you no longer using HVX?

We still have 2 HVX's and will be selling them one at a time for the 170s. Mikes will go first since he has had a reservation for a while and then mine when the time is right.

I found it on some forums and it has been given rave reviews. I would love for someone to get both this one and the other from manhatten and do a thorough review. At 450 bucks for this smallhd.. it's an absolute steal. It's not as bright as some of the others, has no HD-SDI, but who gives a crap about that when it's 450 bucks and comes with a sun-shade.

I'm willing to give one a chance when I can get in contact with them. I think I'm going to get the smallhd one over the manhattan as it's a bit cheaper and sometimes it's nice to judget a book by it's cover, and they have a nice clean site and a great promo video.

Anyone else have any experience with either of them? I just think it's finally about time to NOT have to pay 1500 bucks for an 800x600 monitor. I also really hate the Marshall for it's cumbersome size and overal cost. I haven't used the others but at this price I don't think I'll have too...

And Yes, it seems like a good alternative to that other DIY guys's monitor. If I had paid 2 grand and got attitude and un-returned emails and phone calls.. I'd be super pissed too. The guy should have thought through his marketing if he wanted to be a reliable vendor.
