Sorry, I've been away on a shoot for the last week, lets see if I can answer some questions.
Jenningsp, I appreciate the advice even though I don't totally agree with you. While I agree that the trailer may not break the mold of trailers, it really is not supposed to. This film was made with the intent of not looking independent, or as much as we could make it look that way. While I don't like the hollywood cliches like the rest of you, I do believe that there are certain expectations that arrise when viewing a trailer.
1. Does it tell a story?
2. Does it make me want to see this film?
3. Does the trailer follow the theme of the film.
4. IS IT COOL
(Sad but true)
While a trailer may not be #2 or #4 with everyone, the goal is to make it be #2 and #4 with as many people as possible so that they see the movie. Trailers are not rated, they are not reviewed by critics, no one ever got an award for "best trailer" they are a marketing tool and nothing else. When marketing a film it needs to be aimed at a certain audience and capture as many of that audience as possible. So as a final note, the trailer is not the goal of the film, the Film is the goal, but in order to reach that goal people first have to be interested in seeing the film.
Gordon: Yes those shots were done with the Brevis as well.
