Making QT files to import- am I losing quality

Hey guys
I have some clips shot in 60p. My process has been to open them in Quicktime and then save as a new clip (so that my original is not messed up). Then I go into Compressor and conform this QT file into 24p. Am I loosing any quality when I make the original 7d clip a QT file and then import it into FCP? Also, I have done everything as 24p, so I hope I am not too late on this, but should I have done 23.98?
thanks

It's easier to just open the original clip in cinema tools and conform it, you wont loose any quality or make new files that way.

yeah but if i ever need them in real time and not slow mo, then i can't go back right? i thought this was a one time ordeal where i would lose the 60p once it was conformed unless i made new clips to conform

If you want a clip to be back in real time then you just edit the speed settings of the clip in fcp to play it back at 200%

What format do you save it to? The same h.264? Have you put the two up on the screen and A->B between them to see if there's any difference?

I convert everything to Prores using compressor, then use Cinema Tools to conform to 23.98. Are you sure compressor is conforming rather than Converting? I don't know if there's a difference, but it only takes a half-second in Cinema Tools.

it is only taking half a second... i don't see any diff in my computer screen but just nervous when projected on bigger screens...
also, why do you use 23.98 instead of 24? i am nervous i made a mistake doing 24?
