Making a tape switch.

I just bought a slightly used DVX100A (26 hours) off ebay. (I believe the guy i bought it from has an account on here)
But in the pictures of the product and what he's sending me the tapes are sony premiums and I know I want to make the switch over to Panasonic because of the dry/wet head/tube mechanisms and also because my friend is using a DVC30 and i would like to be able to give him tapes while on trips and what not.

Whats the best head cleaner to use when switching over?

The guy i get my stuff professionally cleaned through charges 75 for a quick clean and a good 150 for a thorough clean. Is it really nessesary to get a complete clean if you're making a tape switch?

Not at all.

I think people are making WAY too big a deal out of the "tape" thing. I try to stick to the same tape's, but lots of times I run out on a wedding shoot, and I throw in the cheapo memorex (or whatever my other shooter is shooting on) tape's.

Been doing it for a couple years, and never had a problem.

come ONNN!!

If you clean this thing with 26 hours you are throwing money down the toilet.
Make the switch and stick to your new tapes ( pun intended)

rather wait until you have a REAL need to clean it.

This tape thing is way over-rated. Yes don't switch tapes if you find a brand/price you like which is good - but if you are stuck (pun intended) spending money right off the bat for no reason - it is going to frustrate you if the technician damages something else........... let sleeping dogs.........film.
