P+S Technik Mini35 does correct it for you.. as does Movietube.

The Guerilla35 and Micro35 both have an undesirable 180 degree inverted image on tape.
I know of no such device that will flip it back for a monitor. Still looking though.

thisiswells: I can't speak for others, but the choice of leaving it un-flipped is a specific design decision we made to target the price as low as we could. We already know how to "unflip it" but it just adds to the cost and complexity (you can probably guess where we're headed with that).

A on-camera LCD display such as the TVOne (which gives you 6.5" of LCD monitoring) provides this flip as easy as the push of a button, and costs around $500. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=276812&is=REG which means for around $1,000 you can have 35mm lenses on your DV or HD cam and a "rightside up" image, AND a big LCD monitor. The only question left is, what are you going to do with the other $9,000 you would have spent on the mini35

FWIW, your approach (while inconvenient, yes) should yield better results than the other products mention because you're not going through another piece of optic to do the inversion. Of course, the trade-off is a level of rendering in post, but most anyone would be rendering anyways for image enchancements like color correction. So, I guess what I'm saying is, assuming everything else is pretty good quality in your adapter, it should bring better results than a product with more optical elements in it. Quite awesome. I truly wish you the best successes in this venture. Good luck.

He'll flip ya. He'll flip ya for real!

1. Many people seem confident that flipping in post does not degrade the image... is there a lossless rotation for DV like there is for JPEG? Otherwise, you lose a generation, which isn't terrible, but the original poster is right about it.

2. Turn your monitors upside-down.
