C300: Major issue with malfunctioning camera

I am having major problem with a c300 camera. It is not functioning in camera mode, and displays a white screen in the viewfind. The external LCD does not function, nor do the buttons work on the body in camera mode. The quirky thing is that media mode works fine, the lcd and viewfinder display all the menus, buttons and joystick work as well.
Has this ever happened to anyonr? I have done a reset within the menu in media mode, and have reset the camera using the reset button next to the CF slot.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am about to film in a remote area in asia with minimal internet access, and have little chance of getting anything shipped.

No idea. Just try updating the firmware in the hope that it can be set right. These days Canon has got good Level IV services centres in many metro cities, at least in India. Facilities in Singapore, China, Malaysia are good. Try approaching Canon in the country you are in now.

Check your hand grip plug to make sure it's all the way in. If it's not, your buttons will not work. A quick test is just hit the MAG button, if it doesn't work, then the cable is not all the way in......it's a right of passage thing for all C300 owners..

No luck guys, it's definitely not the typical hand grip/plug issue. The camera boots up, accesses the CF cards, cf led lights change to green, but all I get is a black screen on the viewfinder. After about twenty minutes of being turned on, the camera viewfinder and lcd screen turn computer blue with A000000000 number countdown that simply repeats (i've let continue until battery dies to see if it goes anywhere.) When it's at this computer blue stage, all the menu parameters are present, it can recognize lens in the menu, the buttons on camera and handgrip work, menu works, so I go into the menu to execute 'reset all camera settings' command. The camera reboots, and the whole process repeats again...

I am wary of loading new firmware and potentially bricking the c300, especially if I have a possible hardware failure somewhere.
If this was a 5D, I might do it, but for what this thing cost I am less apt to make it a paperweight.
Will probably just have to get it checked when I get back in the States, and roll with 5Ds for filming :(

Canon Cinema EOS also has a 24 hour hotline that may be able to help you, but it sounds like it's going to need to be serviced.

Thanks, I contacted Canon and they recommended sending it to the service center. It sucks that Murphy's law hit it the worst way in a remote desert area, hundreds of miles from a metropolitan / modern city. I am trekking with a fancy paperweight now. Will need to get it serviced when I return and forge ahead with my ancillary gear. Thanks guys.
