I was shooting last night and saw this on my screen. The video looks like it's has colored peaking turned on.

I'm shooting with the BG attached. This morning I've tried everything, removing the BG, and reseting the camera. What I found is that this problem is very intermitent. I was able to get the distortion to come back with the BG attached. But when removed it works fine. Then I put the BG back on and it works.

One thing I noticed is that when it begins distorting i loose all control of my aperature, shutter & any other function besides the record. It only acts up while recording. I'm shooting in manual.

I've been playing with this for the past 1.5 hrs and am at a point where the problem hasent returned. I'm on set again today and am very worried about using this camera.

Can anyone help?

are you using the canon Battery grip? I have a zeikos one and I havent had any problems, but some of the other off brand ones are pretty cheap quality and it may have a bit of water damage or something may be messed up with the electronics. If it works without your battery grip, i'd say your battery grip is probably dead.

Battery grips do come with electronic connections, and even the original Canon ones are problematic when heavy lenses are attached.. there's just too much flex for how they are mounted.

Thanks everyone. It is the Canon battery grip (BG) I'm going to try to shoot without the BG on today and see if I have anymore problems. I was able to shoot about 6 gigs of footage last night with it until I saw it was acting up again. I always keep the BG attached and put it in sideways in my pelican foam case. Maybe I should rethink this?
