Magnet trick on the A1?

Rawfa,

I've got a cheap Lilliput tft monitor. The resolution leaves a lot to be desired. The 1440 number is misleading. It's actually 480 for each color channel, then they add them together to say its 1440. Creative advertising I guess.

However, if you just want a monitor for flip/framing, it does the trick. I think all Lilliputs do an X and Y flip. I use it for my Brevis, and it works just fine. No zebras, but for framing, it's a big help.

Thanks, Richie. One more thing. Does it work with batteries or must you have it plugged all the time?

Does anyone know if the lilliput monitor also takes batteries or if it works exclusively with AC power? I'm about to buy one and since I have to work on the field I need something that can operate with batteries if necessary.

1440x234? Why such low vertical resolution...

In my recent investigation of LCDs I found that the vertical resolution is the actual and the horizontal is actually 1440/3 so in this case the actual screen resolution would be: 480x234. Not all are like this, but those that I saw marked as 1440x234 were.

Thats not enough for HD Im afraid. On the other side of the coin its better than nothing if funds were / are limited.

rafa, most of the lcd monitors in the lilliput's class are powered by 12v sources. i have a studio 1 power unit from a few years back that converted power from a canon battery to a 12v power source, and used that to power my marshall and varizoom lcds -- just used a couple of strips of velcro to mount the adapter on the back of the lcd. i don't see the battery adapter in the studio 1 catalog anymore, but nebtek makes one that seems to be identical.

Sorry Richie I just said same thing as you. No zebras true, but they would still show on the LCD anyway.

Did anyone find a way to flip the lcd yet? I tried with a magnet for a long time but no go. The FX1 was a beauty to work with when it came to 35mm adapter. With that huge lcd that needed a simple magnet to flip.

But to be honest, the more I work with the A1, the more I start wondering if you really need a 35mm adapter with this camera. The A1 has a nice bokeh and dof than many adapters, without the hassle of having more weight and now a monitor attached to the camera.

Oh, btw, I'm going to make some test with and without the letus35A today to compare. One thing I can say straight away is that the A1 doesn't need any macro or spacer to work with the letus.
