T2i Magic Lantern + Rode Videomic - Gain vs No Gain

Hang on. Have they just missed the 7D? Or have they made magic lantern.

Short answer: Not yet. But work is being done on producing a Magic Lantern image for the 7D. Currently we can generate signed firmware images and have dumped the 7D's ROM for analysis. If someone donates a 1D Mark IV, I suspect the same techniques will work to produce a version of Magic Lantern for it.
While we can generate signed firmwares, we're not able to cause a clean reboot to start our process with the RAM copy of the ROM startup code. We can't even jump back into the ROM, so at this point we're not able to run our own process alongside the main firmware image.
See 7D_support page. 500D work has started here to understand this entry level cameras under DryOS since this model.

Can the magic lantern brick your 550D?

Apparently it can, but I think that's if you perhaps modify the code.

If you set your SD Card to auto boot the firmware & then not have it on the card the camera won't boot. You have to remove the battery. To "turn off" magic lantern you have to turn off autoboot on your SD Card.

So if I don't modify the code then I should be okay?

Besides setting the SD card to auto boot the firmware, is there a better option so I won't need to use the same SD card everytime?

What exactly are the risks with the T2i/550D? On the Magic Lantern site it says, "Remember that you can damage your camera (be careful of the FA_ (Factory) functions for example)." Why is this one potentially dangerous but others are not?
