Magic Lantern Question

I need some help here. I'm trying to convince a fellow filmmaker, and friend, that as long as it shoots stills, the sensor can shoot the same thing in video. Now I can't find it at Canon's site, that statement. Because, we had an argument about how Magic Lantern doesn't really unlock Raw in the 550/600/aps-c sensor cameras. Can you please help me better understand Raw and where I can find a reference-video that proves the APS-C sensor cameras shooting in true Raw, showing the actual dynamic range it boasts about?


I went with two APS-C cameras, some glass lenses, and H4n/Audio Capturing devices rather than just investing in the 5DMark2/3 and one lens only.

ML is using the live view frame buffer to record the images. Their website, www.magiclantern.fm has all the info you'll need. They are recording raw images, like stills, but in a much lower resolution. The only camera that reaches 1080p is the 5d3, aps-c cameras record at much lower resolutions, approx. 720p in the case of the 60d, others even lower. Also, dynamic range is a bit better, but the biggest benefit is its fantastic resolution and post production potential/manipulation. It's biggest downside is some extra aliasing and moire in the case of aps-c cameras, while the 5d3 is again the only cam not suffering from these issues. Buying an aps-c camera for raw probably wasn't the best choice..Lastly, Canon is not a part of this project, so their website wouldn't have any info concerning ML.
