A whole lot to read in this thread. I downloaded ML and the 3/3 build. Im getting the find_cropmarks error code, and the camera keeps shutting off after 2-3 mins. I have a 16Gb class 6 card in. If anyone can just point me in the right direction with a link, it would be greatly appreciated.

soren: excellent find :)

Can you check if it takes any extra power with globaldraw off? (compared with older builds also with globaldraw off).

dubez: try formatting the card.

zac watson: read the install guide and use EOScard.

thanks alot you helped ALOT and if u are the creator of this THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Pretty significant difference. Can you do the same test in photo mode? It would be interesting to see LiveView and Non-LiveView, with or without ML.

Looking for a quick answer here, rather than reading 59(make that 85) pages...

Are there any special considerations for the Magic Lantern software installed on a Mac? I'm looking at Derkoi's tutorial, and am not sure if the files would be the same for mac. If so is there a mac tutorial / file? I could move to a PC I suppose, but all my T2i friends have macs too.

I'm ready to go now, and a quick reply would be greatly appreciated.

I think the only difference is how you make your SD card bootable (after formatting it, and before copying the ML files there)

I got the latest ML going, the one that goes with the latest canon firmware 1.0.9. Works great. I used a PC. But I have a question about card maintenance:

• Once a card is made hard bootable will I have to remake it hard bootable if I format? It would be nice if one decided to format periodically, that they only need to replace the ML files on the card, rather than additionally having to make it hard bootable once again.

Anyone?

Here's the vid with links to all the things needed for the latest, greatest ML:

i think it's a good idea to format a card periodically (in the camera).

yes, once formatted, you need to make it bootable. i use bootcf on the pc.

then, i have a folder that contains the latest ML build and my latest magic.cfg configuration file, i just drag'n'drop to the card.

I have a folder in my pc with both eoscard and a batch file to copy ML to the card, it takes just around a minute to take the card out of the camera, plug it into the pc, install ML, unplug card from pc, put it back on the camera (described in full detail just to convey the fact that moving the card around is actually the most tedious part)

Yeah it's not that big an issue for me to just use EOS card and drop in the files again, as I have a PC. I am a mac guy who still uses his old PC for some old apps. But the friend who owns the camera I just put ML on only has a mac, and frankly the instructions on the build I just installed from the video above were not too clear to me where Mac is concerned. So I'd like to be able to hand him his camera and easy instructions for keeping ML going through periodic formats.

And Soren, you may well be right. I may not have the latest build. Link it up if you got it! I found a guys tutorial earlier in this thread, but that was for the last Canon Firmware, so I was just happy to find a ML that goes with this most current Canon update. The thing is I could have easily bricked out had I used that earlier tutorial because that was for Canon's 1.0.8 but I had 1/0/9 on. I had his ML on my card ready to go when I thought I'd just double check the video I posted above. Glad I did.

I know you're an audio guy because I recall reading your opinions on 60d audio quality back when I still owned a 60d. It would be interesting to have your view on the audio quality of the t2i with ML audio controls once you've had some time to make an evaluation.

:)

By the way, not sure if I ever linked back in here or not, but I made a quick and dirty test of the audio in camera to prove a point: internal audio is perfectly usable in many situations (many nay-sayers here will claim that poor preamps means disabling AGC won't matter- the audio just isn't quality. I disagree).

i agree, dishe, you can get decent audio with ml and the onboard mic. i also plug a sony stereo mic into the camera and get excellent audio. i do use a zoom h4, this gives me the most flexibility in post, i can use both tracks if i want, maybe just to add ambience...
