T2i Magic Lantern for 550D in progress!

Because i requested it:Drogar-Happy(DBG):

I like to have every option unlocked in ISO and shutter speeds ,sometimes i needed above 125 but less than 160 shutter.

I also did it because from my own experience with coding i know that i have more motivation after i do something impressive(and unlocking ISO's by Alex was VERY impressive) and if someone would ask about something when i am in "motivation mode" then i would have more will to do it ,thats why i requested shutter speeds right after unlocked ISO's and Alex did wonderful job! Thank You very much ! We 550D users are very lucky :)
I was hoping for 1/48 shutter speed (for 24p)or 1/120(for 60p) but those arent coded into camera by canon engineers.

I made the card non-bootable. I pressed R and it worked. Everything was deleted from my card. I put the card into my camera. It worked the first time, then the second time it wouldnt go.
I had to format the card & do the step to non-boot the card again. Although it said it was already non-bootable, i still tried it. After a while the camera started to work. :D No idea what happened there but, the problem is solved. I followed the steps. So, I dont know.

Yeah, I miss read it. I thought you did need it.
I tried correcting my post, but my computer is dieing on me and I didnt fix it on time. sorry.

Oh my God, excellent work! Amazing.

Is there any way to overlay cropmarks burned into the actual video as its recording? I say this because then it makes the q-scale at max setting possible for long periods as the bitrate is used more efficiently.

The current work-a-round is to actually put a physical piece of paper on the sensor (http://www.mmfilm.co.uk/mmfilm/archives/789 ) or masking the lens. Not the most ideal...

bwwd, could you forward this suggestion on?

So I am still debating this, would love detailed walkthrough from a mac person that has done this successfully.

Dumb question time: this seems to be tied heavily into a particular card you format with the software etc., so does that mean as long you are running this you are restricted to using this one card as opposed to swapping them out like you might normally do?

Hey man I did it yesterday, Im on a mac...16gb transcend class 6 sdhc...here is what i did took 5 minutes....

Here are my steps....i just followed the INSTALL .pdf that came in the unzipped file....
1. Put regular SD card in camera and formatted it
2. Took out SD card from camera and downloaded the latest "magiclantern-0.2.0.rc1.550d.fw109" and unzipped it
3. On my MAC copied only the .fir file onto the SD card and put the SD card back into my camera and went through the update firmware process...waited until the light went off and turned the camera off and took battery out
4. Put battery and SD card back in and formatted the SD card in camera again
5. Took SD card out and put back in card reader in MAC...moved the autoexec.bin, all .bmp files, and magic.cfg to the SD card. Next opened the make_bootable.sh file and changed the line near the top to dev=/dev/disk1s1 ((((this may vary but on my MBP it was disk1s1)))).
6. Then copied everything in the make_bootable.sh file and pasted it in terminal and hit enter....this should unmount the SD card...I then took the SD card out of the computer and put it back in to make sure that it would mount again
7. Once I did this I then put the SD card in the camera and turned on the camera and voila it was there working with all the menus when you hit the garbage button

No 3rd party software...Literally took 5 minutes...obviously do at your own risk....i hold no responsibility if you brick your camera...

and of course the ISOs and audio play back version is up now....magiclantern-2010Dec20.550d.fw109.iso+menu.alex

Make every card bootable and have ML on all of them, swap them out no problem. ML takes up negligible space on the SD card. I set up 5 cards with ML this morning and it took me all of 7 minutes once I got into the groove. I highly recommend it.

wondering if the hdmi and lcd can be both turned on

That would be nice... but even more interesting IMO, would be a way to output live HDMI to an external recording device, such as a firestore. This would eliminate recording length issues and/or a need to swap memory cards.

arrggggg the version with new isos and shutter speed doesn't work on my camera. It just automatically adjusts everything and even changing the isos does nothing, its all auto (iso, aperture, and shutter speed). and the shutter speed is stuck on 1/1000. Anyone having the same issue?

So did you fixed it ? Post some info bout it cause some guys might bump into similar issue and news like that about blocked shutter or iso can scare people off.

This would also allow you to capture uncompressed footage in a higher quality codec with better color space.

As much as i think this is a great plan i have a feeling that the guys working on this would have done that as the first thing. From what i have read it has been no short order to get it as far as it has come already.

I just got it up and running myself without any problem using my Adata 8gb class 6 cards.

Thanks for all of the hard work guys!

Edit:

So i found that if i hold down the shutter half way then it clears all but the light meter on the bottom. This only works when i have turned off all of the features like zebras, crops, and cleared the redraws. When not holding the shutter down half way i still always get lens data no matter what.

On the note of lens data can anybody tell me what the % number means? and if there is a way to turn off lens data at times. Its helpful with a lens that can communicate but I mostly shoot on older primes.

What do you have these set up as?

Audio:
*Recording with internal mic. & when using external mic.
Output vol:
Anlg gain:
L-Di:
R-Di:
AGC:
Filters:

Video:
Spot meter: - And what is this?

There are 3 crop marks on the camera. What is each one? -The Cinemascope ~ Is that 2.35:1 ? -There are two more (blues)
Preview: - And what is this?

For just shooting video (like when on vacation and stuff, I should be using Qscale: OFF? And when shooting a short film, QScale: 13?)

I googled the stuff, but I cant find any info on it. I either cant find the website with the info, or its not there. :/
