Magic Lantern enables 14-bit RAW CinemaDNG on 5D

Kholi and friends, Here is the LUT I made (beta version) as well as resolve workflow tutorial on how to use it:
https://vimeo.com/67970827

Be sure to read how to use it first because it wont look correct unless you follow the instructions, Let me know what you think! I will keep on working on it in the meantime. Cheers!

Tight.

Is that Lykke Li? The song I mean. Edit: Nevermind it's Purity Ring. Only heard two of their songs. Guess I have to go and find 'em all.

Question for you:

What's the significance of applying everything in the Camera tab versus setting the project up with the 3DLUT on input? JUst wondering if it's made a difference in some way.

Lot of people are going to steal your colorSwag now! About to try the lut out with some Blackmagic footages.

Kholi- song is Purity Ring "fineshrine"- I put a link on the vimeo page.
Thats worth expeirementing with, admittedly im not a resolve guru- I just get by! Try it and let me know! At the moment, The reason I applied it from the BMD film in the project was because I built this LUT from the actual Log-C to R709 LUT for the Alexa, so I needed a decent log gamma to start with to modify and this was just my way of repeating the workflow.

People can try to steal my color all day, that's only a fraction of my swagger ; )

Hunter, for some reason after downloading the lut and placing it into where you specified it dosent show up for me. if anyone else could answer why this could be i'd appreciate it.

@Kholi- your totally right, you can apply it at the beginning in the media pool at it does the same thing- but for the sake of the tutorial you can see what your doing better in the timeline I think. But your suggestion is faster!

@reem12- thats interesting, is it showing up as a .cube? Im on a new imac and I had to change some settings to allow me to properly see the folder as OSX was hiding my application support folder.

Hunter, your download is showing as a .txt (text) file and not a .cube.

.cube.text. I've placed it in the the application support folder as you suggested. could just be something i'm doing wrong, I am not the brightest on things like this.

Oh I meant in the settings tab, under the project settings. There's a place to setup your LUT and RAW information, so you can have it default. But it is a good idea to see what everything's doing in the tutorial. GOod point.

Reem:

You have to remove the .txt from the end of the file name within the "info" tab in OSX, then it'll ask you if you want to keep .cube or .txt.

Select .cube.

Put it in the LUTS folder.

wow, still nothing. would it matter that I'm using resolve lite? anyone else using lite having any issues seeing the lut when resolve is open?

I got it going. re-name as Kholi said in the "info" tab, then install as directed. Restart resolve (or close resolve first).

Nice Lut Hunter.

You have to restart R9 after you drop a lut into the Lut folder.

Also, make sure you're going through this path:

Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Blackmagic Design > Blackmagic Design > LUT > CINESPACE (or the root LUT folder)

Restart R9.

@dustylens, I did that, and for whatever reason not working for me. I put it in the applications support folder. I don't have previous luts so I just made a luts folder and put it in there. Dustylense are you on a mac as well?

Yes. I'm on a mac.

Follow that path listed above.

Everybody has a LUT folder in Resolve.

You're in the wrong folder if you don't see a LUT folder, it's part of the install.

Is your Macintosh HD on your Desktop? If not, click on your desktop, then under the FINDER tab, click preferences. Afterward, check the "hard disks" selection.

It should show up on your desktop. Afterward, go to your library through the Macintosh HD Icon.

Great job Hunter! I'll look forward to a Windows workflow as this whole MLRAW matures. Very nice LUT btw.

http://vimeo.com/67970827 <- Saw this yesterday. Looks a tad bit over processed to my eye, but that being said, I love the improved DR.

I gotta say that for 400usd, this is a pretty exciting cam. It's still early days, but I bought one, and I'm glad I did. I'm just messing around with it, you pros prob wouldn't want to mess with it as this stage, but it's fun at this stage to shoot RAW and have fun grading....

Again...great job Hunter!
