$5k??? You must be buying lots of cf cards to getto that ammount
He's like 100 take Stanley.
I need 6x 64Gb cards for a day shooting narrative. It's cheaper than a data wrangler.

If Transcend cards are good enough for you, there's a 128GB 1000x card for $370; a couple of those would be enough for me (each one will hold 24 minutes of 1920x1080 RAW video at 24 fps):

But some people shoot more than 50 minutes per day, and some people insist on using Sandisk, and those are $700 each:

So yes, $4K if you go lean on your CF cards, $5K if you let yourself go just slightly!
(yes I've also read about komputerbay cards, 128GB 1000x for $180, but I wouldn't go for them until I've read lots of positive user reviews)
Soooo, I don't own a MIII - I sold off my Canon stuff (well, except lenses) in fact because I was so underwhelmed by it.
If ML really can make this a reliable, usable hack, what are the odds that Canon stands pat? Could/would they release all new MIII's with new firmware to prevent the ML hack? Or are they more likely to respond with a much cheaper version of the C300 et al? Or do nothing at all?
Just wondered what you guys thought.

Which is why I am truly thrilled to have 2 Mk3's and a c100. I have options now.Yeah, it's true they have cinema cameras...the people that want those will continue to use them. A C300 creates a beautiful image, has incredible ISO performance, has built in ND filters, proper audio, monitoring, quick and painless work flow, and just flat out works. Raw is overkill for a lot of productions, and a lot of those types of productions are done on C300s. Not to mention...reliable, reliable, reliable.
I don't think this will change anything about Canon's roadmap; and why should it? They don't have to do anything and because of this more people will invest in the company. Disabling the ML capabilities via some firmware block would be like burning money. And it won't stop working professionals from investing in their higher-end products because those with budgets pay for the capabilities and peace of mind that those products bring.
On the Kompterbay cards...Good enough for Bloom, cheap enough to at least try a 64GB one to try while the ML crew gets things fully ready. If they are reliable, that would be a huge savings on 6 cards.
Yes, but at the present time the highest resolutions suffer from dropped frames. Stay tuned, all limitations are subject to sudden change.
