I have the basic Magic Bullet editors and am looking for some insight on its updated version Magic Bullet Looks. Any advice from those of you who have used it would be helpful, just want to know if the new features are worth it before opening my wallet
All I can really say is that it is great in terms of the selection and customization of looks BUT (and that's a big one) it is an absolute RAM and CPU hog. It takes forever to render even a few seconds of video. I'm using a 3.6 GHz P4 with 3GB of RAM and it still takes forever to render anything. Even a few seconds requires hours of render time.
You would be better to just do all the "looks" in your editor through colour correction or in AE using various CC filters.
I recommend Videocopilot's looks. They're almost as good and are not RAM hogs at all. They are much much cheaper too.
I keep hearing how great MB is and also that it takes a long time to render. Can someone give me an idea how long a 60-minute video would take to render? I realize it will vary, but just a basic idea would be appreciated. Do you hit Start and then go on vacation or what? Is it stable?
I've tried MB before but the new one isn't compatible with my system, I need a graphics card upgrade. I don't think I could be any happier though than with the VideoCopilot looks, they render much faster than MB and the looks to my eyes are identical.
Personaly, I haven't had much experience with color correction tools. However I recently got the magic bullet looks Package, and although it's easy to over run your picture with alot of unneeded filters, i have found Looks works great for giving yourself more creative freedom to do what you want with your project. I recommend it however if you find something which works better please let me know.
